Hailing from the northern part of Japan (Hokkaido), miso ramen is rich and packed with plenty of umami. Toppings include soy marinated egg, corn, pork and a pat of butter. The ultimate late night food to slurp on after a few drinks.

2. Beef Pho

This Vietnamese classic is considered to be one of the best noodle soups in the world. Rice noodles are served in a complex beef broth made with cloves, start anise, cardamom and other spices and then topped with fresh mint and basil. Squeeze a little fresh lime juice and a squirt of sri racha sauce for the perfect bite.

Any type of noodles can be used here - the secret is in the sauce. Dip your udon, ramen or soba noodles in a bowl of concentrated, rich soy, miso and dashi sauce. Add a poached egg and some char siu pork... Lip smacking delicious.

7. Pad Thai

Mention Thai food and people will almost always pick pad thai as their favorite dish. It's easy to see why; these rice noodles are pungent and salty and mixed with shrimp, eggs and crunchy scallions. The perfect marriage of flavors!

Comfort food doesn't get any better than this. Ramen noodles in a broth made with pork bones that's been simmering for hours and served with melt in your mouth slices of pork belly and soy sauce egg. One of my all time favorites.

Bowl noodles get such a bad reputation for being unhealthy. Okay, so they may not be the healthiest option out there but it doesn't change the fact that they are ridiculously good! Make your own flavors with various toppings and condiments. Eat it for lunch, as a late night snack, for breakfast... Instant noodles always hit the spot day or night!
