*homophobic comment ahead* Before I ever knew I was bi, my mom had suspicions of me being gay since I had never dated anyone. She was mad at me about something and screamed "if you were a lesbian, you'd be butch because you're so cold-hearted!"

No, it's definitely mandatory. Where I live in Illinois, we learned about menstruation in 5th grade (about age 10), and sex in 8th and 10th grade (about ages 13 and 15). The only thing I can think of is that all of these people were absent for those days, because no.
