We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us their favorite memoirs as part of our new Page Turners reading club. Here are some of their fantastic suggestions:
1. This Is Me by Chrissy Metz

2. The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls

"You'll smile, you'll cry, and you'll gasp. You'll feel every human emotion — maybe even some you wish you didn't. Walls’ childhood, like her writing, is an incredible story — a difficult one — but an incredible one."
Get it on Amazon for $11.16+, Barnes & Noble for $13.13+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
3. Promise Me, Dad by Joe Biden

"I literally had to read in 15-page increments because I cried so much. He’s so open about Beau and his family, but also talks about policy and what he did as vice president. I liked Biden before, but after reading this book I have such a deep respect for him as a politician and a person."
Get it on Amazon for $15.59+, Barnes & Noble for $17.00+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
4. Sounds Like Me by Sara Bareilles

5. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

"It's absolutely one of the best memoirs I’ve ever read. I’m a huge Trevor Noah fan and this book definitely didn't disappoint. It's absolutely hilarious even though he touches on some tougher subjects. It's super interesting, hilarious, and heartfelt. It's an incredible read and I would highly recommend!"
6. Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

7. Another Place at the Table by Kathy Harrison

8. Redefining Realness by Janet Mock

9. Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson

"For a book about being 'crazy,' I’ve never read anything that’s ever made me feel so normal. It goes inside the mind of someone living with (and effectively coping with) mental illness in the funniest way possible. 10/10 would recommend."
Get it on Amazon for $10.95+, Barnes & Noble for $11.16+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
10. Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham

"It's not only one of the best memoirs I've ever read, but also one of the best books I've read. She's super real, raw, and funny. Her writing style makes it seem like you're having a conversation with her rather than just reading text. It made me love her even more."
Get it on Amazon for $9.90+, Barnes & Noble for $10.12+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
11. Binge by Tyler Oakley

"It's not only a comedic masterpiece, but a beautifully written story about coming out, self-love, acceptance, and how making mistakes helps you grow as a person. He puts a lot of himself into the book and that makes the reading experience feel very genuine. You feel like you're sitting down and having a true heart-to-heart with him, which makes it feel very intimate and personal."
Get it on Amazon for $11.85+, Barnes & Noble for $12.05+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
12. Dispatches From the Edge by Anderson Cooper

"It's a fantastic read. The book blends his public life with his private life and current topics with past topics. It has made me want to pick up other biographies to keep learning about other people’s experiences."
Get it on Amazon for $9.74+, Barnes & Noble for $9.74+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
13. The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish

14. The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion

"It's a heartbreaking yet beautifully written memoir about grief and loss. Didion wrote it in response to the deaths of her husband and her daughter, who passed within a year of each other. If there's one memoir you should read on the subject of grief, it's this one."
Get it on Amazon for $10.07+, Barnes & Noble for $10.28+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
15. Paddle Your Own Canoe by Nick Offerman

"I've always liked his character (Ron Swanson) on Parks and Rec, but now I love him as an actor even more. He has so much good advice on being your own person and he gives a different perspective on being 'manly' in today's society."
Get it on Amazon for $10.79+, Barnes & Noble for $11.74+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
16. Note to Self by Connor Franta

17. And finally, Hunger by Roxane Gay

"I relate to it so deeply. It helped me take steps to address my mental health and sort out some things about myself in a way I hadn’t thought of before. I also love the way it isn't a story about a before and after, but rather an ongoing journey. Her writing is astute, clear, and intelligent, without being inaccessible. As a bonus — I listened to it in audio form, which she reads herself, and her voice is so calm and soothing. I love everything about it!
Get it on Amazon for $11.59+, Barnes & Noble for $11.87+, or a local bookseller through IndieBound here.
