Runner Mahiedine Mekhissi Benabbad Bullys 14-yr-old Girl Mascot

French athlete Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad has gained track and field infamy for all the wrong reasons, in the lead-up to the London Olympics. The 27-year-old had just won gold in the European Championship's 3000 metre steeplechase in Helsinki yesterday when audience cheers quickly subsided into shock over his subsequent actions. Rather than appearing happy about his 8.33.23-minute victory, the Algerian-born athlete walked over to the championship's mascot "Appy", which was being worn by a 14-year-old girl, and smacked a gift bag out of her hands and shoved her with both hands.

Zombie Attack In China

Chinese 'cannibal' attack caught on camera as drunk bus driver leaps on woman and chews on her face. The recent terrifying spate of 'cannibal attacks' seems to have spread to China, as a drunk bus driver was caught on camera gnawing at a woman's face in a horrific random attack. The unfortunate woman will apparently require plastic surgery to repair the damage done by her crazed attacker. According to local news reports, the driver, named Dong, had been drinking heavily during lunch with his friends before the outburst on Tuesday. He then ran on to the road in the city of Wenzhou, in south-east China, and stood in front of the car being driven by a woman named Du, stopping her from moving. Dong climbed on the car's hood and started beating the vehicle while the panicked woman screamed for help. When she left the car and tried to escape, the bus driver leaped on top of her and wrestled her to the ground. It was then that Dong started biting Du's face, leaving her covered in blood and weeping as passers-by tried to pull the attacker off his victim. Witnesses said that the bus driver had gone 'crazy' and was successfully resisting attempts to subdue him. When police arrived, they managed to take Dong into custody, bringing the appalling rampage to an end. Du was taken to hospital, where doctors said she would need surgery to repair her nose and lips. The incident comes in the wake of a number of similar attacks committed by drugged-up psychopaths in the U.S. Perhaps the best-known of these came in May, when Rudy Eugene chewed a homeless man's face off before being shot dead by police.

Huge 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia

Huge Indonesia quake sparks tsunami fears - 04-11-2012 A massive earthquake off Indonesia's western coast triggered tsunami fears across the Indian Ocean on Wednesday, sending residents in coastal cities fleeing to high ground in cars and on the backs of motorcycles. A strong aftershock nearly three hours later sparked a new wave of panic. Indonesia's government responded by issuing a fresh tsunami warning. Some residents were crying in Aceh, where memories of a 2004 tsunami that killed 170,000 people in the province alone, are still raw. Others screamed "God is great" as they poured from their homes or searched frantically for separated family members. The U.S. Geological Survey said the first 8.6-magnitude quake was centered 20 miles (33 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor around 269 miles (434 kilometers) from Aceh province. That prompted the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii to issue a tsunami watch for Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Myanmar, Thailand, the Maldives and other Indian Ocean islands, Malaysia, Pakistan, Somalia, Oman, Iran, Bangladesh, Kenya, South Africa and Singapore. A wave measuring less than 30 inches (80 centimeters) high, rolled to Indonesia's coast. There were no other signs of serious damage. But just as the region was sighing relief, an 8.2-magnitude aftershock hit. "We just issued another tsunami warning," Prih Harjadi, from Indonesia's geophysics agency, told TVOne in a live interview. People along the western coast of Sumatra island and the Mentawai islands were told to stay clear of coasts. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centers watch remained in effect. A tsunami watch means there is the potential for a tsunami, not that one is imminent. The initial quake was a strike-slip, not a thrust quake, according to experts. In a strike slip quake, the earth moves horizontally rather than vertically and doesn't displace large volumes of water. They were still analyzing the aftershock. "When I first saw this was an 8.7 near Sumatra, I was fearing the worst," Roger Musson, seismologist at the British geological survey who has studied Sumatra's fault lines, noting one of the initial reported magnitudes for the quake. "But as soon as I discovered what type of earthquake it was, then I felt a lot better." The first tremor was felt in Malaysia, where it caused high-rise buildings to shake for about a minute, and in Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh and India. It caused chaos in the streets of Aceh. Patients poured out of hospitals, some with drips still attached to their arms. In some places, electricity was briefly cut. Hours after the temblor, people were still standing outside their homes and offices, afraid to go back inside. "I was in the shower on the fifth floor of my hotel," Timbang Pangaribuan told El Shinta radio from the city of Medan. "We all ran out. ... We're all standing outside now." He said one guest was injured when he jumped from the window of his room. Thailand's National Disaster Warning Center issued an evacuation order to residents in six provinces along the country's west coast, including the popular tourist destinations of Phuket, Krabi and Phang-Nga. India's Tsunami Warning Center issued a warning for parts of the eastern Andaman and Nicobar islands. In Tamil Nadu in southern India, police cordoned off the beach and used loudspeakers to warn people to leave the area. The quake was felt in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where many people in the city's commercial Motijheel district left their offices and homes in panic and ran into the streets. No damage or causalities were reported. In Male, the capital of the Maldives, buildings were evacuated. Indonesia straddles a series of fault lines that makes the vast island nation prone to volcanic and seismic activity. A giant 9.1-magnitude quake off the country on Dec. 26, 2004, triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed 230,000 people, most of them in Aceh.

Miss Universe Contestant Disqualified for havng a natural born Penis

Miss Universe Beauty Queen Disqualified for havng a natural born Penis in Canada. Miss Universe Canada officials have banned 23-year-old transsexual Jenna Talackova from participating in the pageant finals to be held in Toronto in May, 2012. The Vancouver contestant was one of sixty-five women chosen to compete in the national contest (which is owned by Donald Trump). The Daily Mail Reports that Denis Davila, national director of Miss Universe Canada, asserts that every contestant must be a "naturally born female." Critics of the decision claim that the rules do not specifically address sex change or plastic surgery. The statuesque blonde Talackova is calling it a human rights issue. She says that she knew she was a girl by age four, started hormone therapy at fourteen, and had sex reassignment surgery at nineteen. She's previously competed in both transsexual and women's beauty pageants. "All I can say is that they disqualified me because I'm not 'natural born,' she told the National Post. "[That] doesn't make sense because since I was conscious, I always felt this way." After being kicked out of the pageant, Talackova, whose twitter account has since been locked, tweeted, "I'm disqualified, however I'm not giving up. I'm not going to just let them disqualify me over discrimination." Online support for the beauty queen is growing. So far, over twenty-one thousand people have signed a petition demanding she be allowed to compete. It reads, "She is a woman and deserves to be treated as any other woman would be." Talackova, who says she is not doing interviews until she consults a lawyer, describes herself as, "a woman with a past." Do you think Jenna Talackova should be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant? Let us know in the comments below.

Whitney Houston's cause of death revealed

March 22, 2012 - The singer accidentally drowned as a result of cocaine use and heart disease. Family's response. Whitney Houston died from drowning in a hotel bathtub, but coroner's officials said Thursday that heart disease and chronic cocaine use were contributing factors to the singer's death. The release of the autopsy findings ends weeks of speculation about what killed the Grammy-winning singer on Feb. 11 on the eve of the Grammy Awards. Houston was found submerged in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and her death has been ruled as accidental. Several bottles of prescription medications were found in her hotel room, but coroner's officials said they weren't in excessive quantities. Beverly Hills police said in a statement there was no evidence of wrongdoing in connection with Houston's death. "We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure," said Patricia Houston, the singer's sister-in-law and manager. Coroner's Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said cocaine and its byproducts were found in Houston's system, and it was listed as a contributing factor in her death. He said the results indicated Houston was a chronic cocaine user. Toxicology results also showed Houston had marijuana, Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril, and the allergy medication Benadryl in her system. Houston died just hours before she was scheduled to appear at producer Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Awards bash. The singer also had a heart disease that caused blockages in her arteries. Houston, 48, was buried in a New Jersey cemetery next to her father after an emotional four-hour funeral service that was attended by friends, family and superstars such as Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Roberta Flack Houston, a sensation from her first, eponymous album in 1985, was one of the world's best-selling artists from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, turning out such hits as "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," ''How Will I Know," ''The Greatest Love of All" and "I Will Always Love You." But as she struggled with drugs, her majestic voice became raspy, and she couldn't hit the high notes. Interest in her music skyrocketed after her death, pushing her songs back on to charts and into heavy rotation on the radio. A full autopsy report is expected to be released in two weeks.

Dad Makes Son Wear Sign In Florida Street Corner

Dad forces son to wear embarrassing sign. - 03-12-2012 Failing Student Wears Sign As Punishment. When a local seventh grade student came home with a bad report card, his parents took action — by forcing him to wear a sign that told the world of his awful grades. Teenager Michael Bell, Jr. received failing marks in his language arts, math and civics classes, according to Local 10 News. So his parents decided to take action. "He has been screwing up in school, behavior and academics and right now I am trying to send a message to him," Michael Bell, Sr. told the station. The sign has two sides. One asks, "Hey, I want to be a class clown, is it wrong?" The other tells drivers that he is a middle school student who is failing his present semester. "Is anything wrong with that?," it reads. "Blow your horn if you ... think so." The teen takes responsibility for his role in the punishment, which will last throughout his spring break. "I don't like it, but I know that it's my fault," Michael Bell, Jr. told the station. "Right now, this is the only thing I have left to try and reach him," Bell Sr. told the station, who has been standing with his son the entire time to ensure that he is safe and fed.

Tornado Rips Neighborhood

It is a dramatic look at the tornado that hit one week ago today, unlike any we've seen before. The video shows the tornado as it took out homes in West Liberty. It was captured on a surveillance system that never turned off, and it recorded the entire disaster as it happened. "Well, I don't know what it's like, but I would compare it to hell," said Randy Risner. Randy Risner's surveillance system consisting of seven cameras caught the tornadoes fury from several different angles. "It didn't sound like a train, it sounded like thunder, and it kept getting louder and louder," Risner said. He and his wife, Norma, took cover in their basement. "You could actually feel the ground shaking and our the 11-foot basement walls were shaking, too," Norma said. "I didn't know if we were going to have a house standing, when we came out or not," Randy said. Damaged, their house stood strong. But the tornado destroyed their workshop (caught on camera) and another camera shows the roof of their neighbors home peel off like a sardine can. "If I hadn't seen him walk out of the house, no one could have told me, he lived through that," said Randy. His son Kyle's home, which neighbor's his, also took a hit, and can be seen from the video. "Without looking at this video you-all (WKYT) got from us, you'd never believe it," he said. "I'm just so thankful we are okay, and I thank the good lord," Norma said with a heavy heart. "But I feel, we feel for all of the families who lost loved one's, we are thinking of them," she continued. The Risner's feeling fortunate to be alive say they're hoping the video leaves a lasting impression on those who see it. "Because we will need help here in West Liberty for a long time, not just today," Randy said. "We don't want people to forget what happened to those here in Morgan County, and the others affected by these tornadoes." Now they, like many of their neighbor's must make the choice of whether to rebuild or not. But first, Randy says, the people of West Liberty are in need of more insurance adjusters - who've told the Risner's it could be up to three-weeks before they can get someone to Morgan County. "It's just a frustrating process, there's so much to do, it's overwhelming," he said.

Tornadoes Striking The US

A warm spell and a low-dipping jet stream are fueling the monster storms that are spawning tornadoes today across a wide swath of the country, weather experts said. Today, the Storm Prediction Center has received 311 reports of severe weather, including 48 reported tornadoes and a few reported fatalities. This massive storm system also spawned deadly tornadoes on Leap Day, which raked Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. The severe storms killed at least 12 people and included a strong EF-4 twister in Harrisburg, Ill., a rarity for February. As of this morning, the severe storm risk area covered an estimated 162 million people, or 56 percent of the United States, according to weather experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). While the main tornado season runs from spring to early summer, this year's early outbreaks show that tornadoes can form under a variety of conditions and strike during fall and winter, too. This year's mild winter and warm start to meteorological spring has upped the risk of dangerous storms. "We've been in a very warm pattern all winter," said meteorologist Mark Rose of the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Ala. "Because it has been so mild, it increases our chances for severe weather." Also behind this week's twisters is a low-dipping jet stream. The jet stream is moving at a blistering pace today across the Mid-South and Ohio River Valley. NOAA satellites clocked the jet stream at 150 mph (241 kph) across these regions. The jet stream is bringing cold air from Canada to mix with the warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. Where these two differing air masses meet is often an area of severe weather, hail, winds and even tornadoes. [Infographic: 2012's Active Tornado Season] The warm air and rapid jet stream will keep fueling the storms thru tonight and into the weekend, according to NOAA. Weather experts continue to warn that dangerous tornado outbreaks could explode throughout the evening and overnight hours across the Mid- and Deep South and Ohio River Valley. "We actually are looking at a risk from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes to west of the Mississippi to the East Coast," Craig Fugate, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told the Weather Channel. "And these storms are moving fast."

Teacher Leaves Wife For 18-Year-Old Student

James Hooker, 41, left his wife to move in with his daughter's 18-year-old classmate. - 03-01-2012 Controversy is continuing to swirl around a 41-year-old Modesto teacher, who recently resigned his position, left his wife and moved in with an 18-year-old student. The Enochs High School teacher, James Hooker, is fighting back against allegations that he did something illegal as police investigate whether the relationship began before the girl turned 18. Jordan Powers' mother said she has proof their relationship began sooner. She said she has text messages, phone records and a police report to help build her case. She has also been waging a very public fight on Facebook and in the media. Hooker has left his wife and children, including a daughter who is a junior at the same high school. "There would be nothing to arrest me on," Hooker said. "There was no relationship before she was 18. There's a lot of rumors going on." He also called his girlfriend's mother's allegations a "pack of lies" and urged people to be careful in choosing what to believe. Modesto City Schools Supt. Pam Able confirmed Hooker's resignation Tuesday morning. In an email to the Modesto Bee, Able confirmed Hooker's resignation and said that allegations of the relationship are a "source of great concern for staff, students and parents." "I consider student-teacher dating relationships to be not only unprofessional, but immoral," Able said. The couple also appeared on "Good Morning America" on Thursday to defend their relationship. "I don't regret anything," Hooker said. "He's my best friend," Jordan Powers said. "I mean, he's more than just a lover."
