The eagerly anticipated Second Annual Hip-Hop Film Festival is coming back to Harlem's historic National Black Theatre this Thusday through Sunday, bringing the works of emerging hip-hop filmmakers, special exhibits and groundbreaking panel talks, as the most popular musical genre in America is celebrated for its contributions to popular culture and social awareness. This is the event that won the Best Breakout Film Festival in the US award last year, from Fest Forum, presented by none other than Quentin Tarantino himself. Let the projectors roll!

With support from major sponsors such as 1010 WINS news radio, the New York Life insurance company, and Verizon, among many others, the Festival also showcases The Urban Web Summit, which displays the best new digital photoplays in the genre, a trendsetting Master Cypher series of talks with notable documentarians, performers, hip-hop legends and industry executives, and the not-to-be-missed Art After Dark Party, which will be held every night of the Festival. When the lights go down, hip-hop comes to syncopated life, as no other show on Earth can match!

Festival founder C. R. Capers is justifiably proud of all the group's accomplishments, but, of course, the main theme of the Festival comprises all kinds of short subjects, documentaries, feature-length films, that make up the entertaining, provocative, dramatic, and emotional collection of pictures for the edification of all. Whether it's a gripping tale of a young Black man's struggles with an unjust legal system that robs him of his adult life, or an uplifting, electric story about hip-hop's early days, everyone who comes to the HHFF will find something edifying and intriguing. If you're an aspiring director, screenwriter, or producer, the New York State Governor's Motion Picture and Television Office will also be on hand to steer you in the right direction, as will luminaries from all over the Hip-Hop Nation. You can reach the Festival (the official film event of Harlem Week) via MTA New York City Transit 2,3,4,5, and 6 trains, or the Metro-North Railroad, all of which stop at 125th Street near the Theatre. See you on the Silver Screen!
