Troye Sivan Looked Super Uncomfortable When Asked About Musicians Who Act, And I Suspect His "The Idol" Costar Has Something To Do With It

"Do you think you're a better musician than some other musicians who also act?"

Troye Sivan recently appeared on an episode of Vanity Fair's Lie Detector Test YouTube series, and his answer — or nonanswer — to one particular question caught my eye.

For context, although Troye is probably best known for his music, his acting career includes roles like Gary in Boy Erased, Caleb in Three Months, and Xander in The Idol.

Well, toward the end of the interview, the Australian performer was asked, "Do you think you're a better musician than some other musicians who also act?" Troye then replied, "Some of them, maybe."

When a specific picture of a celebrity was then slid toward him, Troye closed his eyes, shook his head, and muttered, "Don't be..."

Upon opening his eyes, he looked visibly relieved to see a photo of Lady Gaga — to which he remarked, "I think she's better than me, for sure. She's awesome."

Cue another photo and another uncomfortable look:

When a photo of Cher was then revealed, Troye replied, "I have never actually seen... Was she in Mamma Mia? I don't think I've ever seen a movie with Cher in it. I've seen like two movies, just in general."

Of course, the discomfort with which Troye handled the question of singers who can (or can't) act led me (and at least a few people on Twitter) to speculate that he may have been anticipating an image of his Idol costar The Weeknd, whose performance in the HBO show was widely panned. Of course, that's pure conjecture!

Troye did sing the praises of one of his Idol costars elsewhere in the video, saying of Lily-Rose Depp, "I really love this girl."

And also say if you think he was afraid of seeing a specific person, ya know.
