If Your Chase Zelle Payments Went Through Twice Today, It's Not Just You

"Almost had a nervous breakdown until I logged onto twitter and see it’s happening to everyone"

Imagine my dismay when this morning, I received a text from my landlord telling me that I had paid him "too much money." I went to my Chase account, only to find it horrendously overdrawn. I pay my rent in two installments via Zelle, and each payment had gone through twice. I won't say how much I pay in rent, but like any New Yorker (or anyone anywhere), it's a panic-inducing number to see be doubled.

I tried to call Chase customer service, only to be told that they were too busy. So, I did what any self-respecting person in a panic would do — I went to Twitter.

And the Chase subreddit, which is apparently a thing:

    Via reddit.com

So, I reached out to a Chase spokesperson, who told me, "We’re sorry that some customers are seeing duplicate transactions and fees on their checking account. We’re working to resolve the issue and will automatically reverse any duplicates and adjust any related fees."

In short...maybe check your Chase account?

UPDATE A spokesperson for Zelle told BuzzFeed, "Chase may have experienced issues with some of their customers' Zelle® transactions. This was not due to any problems with the Zelle Network®."
