28 Problem-Solving Products You'll Wish You'd Known About Sooner

Got small problems? There's (probably) a product for that.

We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page. Oh, and FYI β€” prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

1. A pair of nail clippers to neatly catch your trimmings, instead of catapulting them across your bathroom.

It comes with a small nail file on the bottom, so you can DIY a decent basic manicure in no time.

Promising reviews: "OK, yes the package is outstanding. But are the Nail clippers? Definitely. Like comparing a surgeon scalpel to a cheap kitchen knife. I mean the clippers are sharp. And easy to use. I was expecting the length of the clippers to be longer but will manage. I expect later when I tackle the toe nails for that to be an advantage too. I've never owned clippers remotely this sharp and easy to use. β€”Bob Whitmore

"Seriously, the title says it all. All my life I've had stainless steel nail clippers that slip from my fingers whenever I have to cut my nails. Usually when they slip, it bends the nail and adds pressure onto my nail bed. With these clippers, the matching finger pulp lets my thumb sit comfortably. It cuts very well and it's effortless so there's no need to put too much pressure when cutting a tough nail (toenails). I'd like to add the nail catcher as a good bonus. It prevents your nail debris from flying all over the place and I don't need to hover over the trash can. I use the build in nail file to shape those sharp edges and it does the job very well. It eliminates the use of switching over to an individual nail file. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone. Oh! I also like the little case that it comes in. It keeps me from losing my nail clipper :)" β€”Jasmine

Get the pair of clippers on Amazon for $11.95.

2. An anti-friction stick that'll stop that irritating summer chafe right in its tracks.

It also helps prevent blisters, according to some commenters.

Promising reviews: "This is a must for anyone who has 'chub rub' issues. When I wear a dress or jeans that hang lower I rub this on before putting clothes on and I have no issues throughout the day. It does not feel sticky or wet. It's just like rubbing dry deodorant. It's especially useful in humid climates where chub rub is painful. I used it in Florida and it worked great at the theme parks!" β€”Kory & Nicole Johnson

"This stuff is wonderful.. not too greasy, and holds up to 3+ hours of running. One stick has lasted me through two 18-week marathon training programs and lots of heat and sweat! Highly recommended". β€”Vivman

Get a pack of two sticks on Amazon for $10.46.

3. Or a set of sexy lace bands to let you skip the sticks and powders AND walk in your dresses all day without a single complaint from your thighs.

BuzzFeed Video /,

One of our producers tested four different products for chub rub, and crowned these one of the winners!

Promising review: "These are fantastic! I work overnights and wear dresses regularly to the office, I've been using the deodorant style anti-chafing rubs and wanted a longer lasting option. Ding Ding ladies!! This is it! So comfortable I fell asleep in them! No marks, no uncomfortable "digging in."

I did measure my thigh to get an accurate size rather than guessing, but it is definitely true to that measurement. And they do take some fine tuning to make sure that they don't roll, but once you find that spot, they don't move!!

I got the lacy ones and they are sexy and soft to the touch with the silicone on the top and bottom. Highly recommended and can't wait to purchase additional colors!!!" β€”A. Spencer

Get them on Amazon for $16.95+ (8 colors, some available both in lace and solid.)

4. A pair of charcoal deodorizers that can suck the stench and moisture out of your sweaty shoes after a long day on your feet.

Plus all you do to re-charge them is set 'em in a bright sunbeam.

Promising review: "I have a pair of black leather flats that stank so badly my husband would yell if I took them off anywhere near him. But I love the shoes!!! So I had to find something to make the stench go away. Mini Moso was the answer. I honestly couldn’t believe it. A few days after placing them in my prized off shoes I took a whiff from about a foot away. Nothing. I got closer. Nothing. I stuck my nose practically in the shoe. Ok, maybe that’s pushing things, but I’ve got to tell you that 95% of the broken-in leather grossness was gone. So happy!!!" β€”Erin

Get a pair on Amazon for $9.95.

5. A set of little plastic caps to prevent your high heels from sinking into grass, gravel, and dirt and make your shoes feel a little more stable on basically any surface.

Promising review: "I just tried these last weekend at an outdoor wedding with an indoor reception. They were amazing! I kept them on all night. First, I walked outside in thick grass, and the wedding photos were taken in a "mushy" grassy area. I didn't sink even a little bit. It was fantastic. My heels were fabulous. I then decided to leave them on for the rest of the night since they made my heels more stable and comfortable. So glad I tried them. I was showing them off to the other ladies, and everyone loved the look of them." β€”J. L. Dossey

Get a pair on Amazon for $9.99.

6. One of these books, which will motivate you to clean out all the stuff you don't need β€” or at least the clothes you don't wear.,

Even if you don't take every word they say completely seriously (especially in Kondo's book), they both offer helpful techniques.

Promising review for The Life-Changing Magic: "It's soaked with knowledge and super inspiring! As a chronically messy person, this book completely changed my perspective on 'tidying,' what to throw away or get rid of, and how to find joy in your space again, how to reclaim it! Honestly pretty awakening, and I think absolutely everyone could learn something from it." β€”rainydayshopping

Get it on Amazon for $11.09 or find a copy at your local library.

Promising review for Unf*ck Your Habitat: "I love this book! It is nonjudgemental and actually applicable to a normal human. This is a book I can follow, use, and come back to. The author doesn't shame you into cleaning and takes different lifestyles, mental health and mobility restrictions into account. Can't recommend enough if you're looking to change your cleanliness habits in a way that is gentle and doesn't make you feel like a pile of garbage yourself." β€”R-Dinner

Get it on Amazon for $15.29 or find a copy at your local library.

7. Or these thin velvet-flocked hangers that will make extra space in your closet and stop your tank tops from slipping off their hangers.

Promising review: "These hangers are seriously low profile enough to give you close to twice the amount of space in your closet. Probably not necessarily a good thing, but I revamped my closet with these instead of donating a large portion of clothes to Goodwill (although I had already donated two other closets full until a friend recommended these hangers) and now my clothes all fit neatly!" β€”Lisa427

Get a 50-pack on Amazon for $23.99+ (three colors).

8. This translucent setting powder β€” layer it with your lipstick to keep it from slowly blotting off as you sip your coffee, eat a snack, and generally just enjoy your day.

From Lulu's.

Get a jar of NYX Translucent Finishing Powder on Amazon for $6.99.

9. And this setting spray that'll make the rest of your makeup last through even the sweatiest, most humid days of summer with just a spritz or two.

Promising review: "I have tried 6 different brands of setting spray in the past year. And this NYX matte finish setting spray is by far the best I've used. Great price and quick shipping. Highly recommend this product. Yesterday I did my makeup at 5 a.m. and then left town for a big family function and did not get home until midnight. 14 hours later and my makeup still looked perfect like I just finished it! So thrilled with this setting spray!" β€”Kat Little

Get a 2.03 fl oz bottle on Amazon for $4.39 (as an add-on).

10. Some minty wipes so you can rub off any lingering red wine stains after enjoying a glass (or two) β€” or coffee stains after your morning cup β€” and keep your smile a bright white.

Promising review: "These wipes are amazing! Wine stains on your teeth are completely embarrassing. I recently bought these for my best friends wedding and her bridal party and we took amazing photos all night. Definitely comes in hand and saves the night!" β€”Amazon Customer

Get them on Amazon for $7.49.

11. And a charcoal teeth whitener that'll help you get the brightest-white smile of your life (if that's what you want).

Promising review: "I was amazed at the difference in just two weeks! I used a total of five times in two weeks. I did learn the charcoal gets stuck under my gums in a few places and eventually works its way out. So I only use before bed, because it’s not the most attractive to have black charcoal pieces in my gum line at work. πŸ™ƒ Overall I am very impressed with this product and it will continue to be a staple in my weekly routine!" β€”Adam

Get it on Amazon for $19.89.

12. An easy-to-use automatic brush spinner to make it easy to actually clean and dry your makeup brushes on the reg.

It'll take less than a minute to take your brush from dingy to clean and dry.

Get it on Hammacher Schlemmer for $49.95, or a similar product on Amazon for $34.99.

13. This non-toxic mosquito kill for scattering anywhere they might breed, and a glowing trap that'll lure the adults to their doom, so you can banish the nasty biters from your porch or yard once and for all.,

Promising review for the mosquito kill, which is approved for pest control even in organic farming: "I spread this stuff around 5 days ago (in potted plants, low spots in the yard, bottoms of gutter spouts, patches of mulch that retain water, and 5 red Solo cups stapled to the fence filled with water) and today I'm enjoying a nice, cold beer on the deck and I have only seen one mosquito who wandered away from me in a daze, looking for his Hell-spawn brethren. I used to light a seance circle of Citronella candles and slather myself in bug spray...but now? Peace and tranquility. I've set up calendar reminders through September to do bi-weekly applications. The jug will probably last me at least 3 summers. I'm a changed man." β€”Alan

Promising reviews for the trap: "Great product. I live on the Gulf Coast. Plenty of bugs. I get about a fourth cup of dead bugs in mine each week!

Works great." β€”JL

"This has made a wonderful difference for us. We still use additional coils and peppermint oil to help. I would say maybe 70% less mosquitoes but the other 30% need extra help. Good product. Will add a second one soon to see if it makes it work even better. Our property is reasonably sized with 10,000 foot of yard so it’s got a big job here this year. They have been biting." β€”Niliwest

Get the mosquito kill for $18.99+ (for a 30-ounce jar) and the mosquito trap for $100.99, both on Amazon.

14. A jar filled with apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap so you can trap all those pesky fruit flies.

Fruit flies = the tiny flies that hatch if you toss your produce scraps in the trash instead of a garbage disposal. You can also secure plastic wrap over the top of your glass with a rubber band, and poke small holes in it with a toothpick or fork (or a bigger hole, with a knife) β€” this helps keep the vinegar smell down, but still lets the flies through. From Fabulessly Frugal.

(And yes I know this isn't a product, but none of the fruit fly traps have high enough reviews for me to recommend them. I do this all the time so I know it actually works!)

15. Some sticky window strips that'll lure house flies with the light and trap them so they can't fly away. (Also, ew, but at least you know it works.)

Regular fly paper (and strips) and other fly traps have a stinky odor to help attract the bugs that you probably don't want in your house, but these are unscented. I'd still recommend keeping a fly swatter handy, too! And to figure out/clean up whatever's attracting so many flies.

Promising review: "Nothing much to say except that these WORK! Finally a product that kills flies and doesn't smell like old gym socks with dead fish inside. These don't attract flies but flies are attracted to the windows anyways so they land on this thing and then are stuck there until they die. Looks a little gross when it gets full but it's better than flies buzzing all over the house!" β€”Christine

Get eight traps on Amazon for $8.99.

16. A toilet-cleaning device β€” it'll work flush after flush, so you can skip the roommate/family battles over who scrubbed the toilet last.

Promising review: "This is the first toilet bowl cleaner that actually did the job of regular manual bowl scrubbing. Our main problem is scum/mineral buildup around the water line in the bowl. In our heavily used family bathroom, this unit lasted an amazing 3–4 months before it ran out of the cartridge, and the results started to become evident. The whole time it not only kept the water/scent clean, it kept the buildup in the waterline completely gone! I did not have to scrub the toilet once or apply any additional cleaner to it at all. Gone are the days of weekly scrubbing the nasty toilet! This is truly a great product." β€”Chris F.

Get it on Amazon for $9.98+ (you can get either a bleach or a blue cleaner, at slightly different prices).

17. A collapsible water bottle that's easy to carry around, if you're always thirsty but hate carrying around a bulky bottle.

OR if you're always forgetting your water bottle, stash it in your purse or gym bag so you can fill it up whenever, wherever. (As long as there's a water fountain.)

Promising review: "Works great! I have been looking for a water bottle that I can keep in my diaper bag and this one's perfect! It's small and doesn't take up a ton of room and is easy to open and fill. And when I'm done I can fold it and store it again! It's durable and strong. I love it!" β€”Ashley C.

Get it on Amazon for $11.95+ (5 colors available).

18. A backup phone battery about the size of a deck of cards, so you know you're covered when your phone goes into low-power mode.

Promising review: "Replaced my girlfriend's no-name brand charger with this, it's perfect for our days together out in the city. This one battery is enough to keep two iPhone 6s and an LG G4 powered all day, and the two charge ports mean there's no switching back and forth between charged and dying phones. Everybody gets the juice. It immediately sustained a hip-height drop onto concrete with marks only on the shiny white plastic surround. The pink anodized coating picked up a lot of smudgy-stuff from inside her purse as well, but some goo-gone should clean that right up." β€”Josiah LaColla

Get it on Amazon for $29.97+ (four colors).

19. A stainless "soap" bar that'll make garlic and onion smells vanish from your fingers after you finish chopping them.

Some reviewers even say it helps with body odor. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Promising review: "My husband got this for me for Christmas, and I have nothing bad to say about it. We're both kind of scratching our heads as to how it works because it does! Used it in the kitchen after fixing dinner... Fish and chicken smell on hands? NO SMELL! Used it after using chemical cleaners that leave residual scent on my hands... NO SMELL! Then, I thought about my deodorant. Would it work? YES, IT DOES! Scrub the pits with it in the shower and in the mornings (wet the bar first!), and I haven't used deodorant for a week! Hubby bought this bar for under $10, and the way I figure, for all its "smell be gone" uses, this metal bar saves me money in the long-run." β€”GabiGutz

Get one on Amazon for $8.99.

20. Some filtered plastic containers to make all your fruit and veg basically immortal (well, make it stay perfectly fresh for two weeks).

Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed

Sound too good to be true? Read my full review.

And get them on Amazon: an 8.4 cup for $11.99, and a set of three (one 6.3 cup and two lettuce-sized 17.3 cups) for $40.

You can also get a set of three (2.5c + 6.3c + 17.3c) from Walmart for $22.98 or a set of two (2.5c + 17.3c) from Target for $19.99.

21. This cute bacon tray so you can cook one or two pieces at a time and still keep the rest of the package super fresh.

You could also store it in any old plastic or glass container, of course. It just won't look quite as cute that way.

Promising review: "The bacon stays much nicer in this tray. Not sure why but no extra liquid forms inside the way it does sometimes when you close up the packaging from the super market. I really like that! And I still smile each time I remove it from the refrigerator. The little pink pig is cute!" β€”HappyTex

Get it on Amazon for $9.21.

22. A useful slicing tool that'll basically pay for itself (if you eat lots of pineapple) because you can stop paying markup prices for the pre-cut packages.

Promising review: "I AM NOT A KITCHEN GADGET all. But after several uses I can, without question say that this is the most efficient, user friendly, and entertaining kitchen gadget I've owned. It works flawlessly and is so simple. You remove the top portion of the fruit, line up the circle cutter with the core and turn. It is that easy. All that's left behind is the core and the skin. We use this to hold fruit salad!

We've put it in the dishwasher after each use and there's been no warp or rust. It is a bit bulky to store but that minor inconvenience is nothing compared how useful this is. If you eat pineapple this is a must have." β€”B. Hamlin

Get it on Amazon for $6.99.

23. An electric wine opener to do all the work so you never have to wrestle with a bottle again.

According to reviewers, you just put it down over the cork, press the button, and watch it do all the work. Then you just set it down on its charger so it's ready for your next bottle! (One charge usually lasts through at least a few bottles; or up to 30 over the course of six to eight hours, if you're having a party.)

Get it on Amazon in stainless steel for $17.99 or at Target in black for $16.49.

24. This amusing coloring book that'll help you relax and feel a like you ~made something nice~ even when you had a not-so-great day.

Promising review: "After working a 14 hour shift at the hospital with crappy people, I like to come home and drink wine while mindlessly coloring in this adult book. It is relaxing and helps me unwind β€” plus I feel somewhat creative afterwards." β€”Ashley

Get it on Amazon for $5.24.

25. A box of smart questions so you can stop forcing awkward conversation at family gatherings or at the dinner table, and actually get to know each other better instead.

Promising review: "These cards are so simple and brilliant. Each time you pull a card, you get a question that sparks a new conversation. You'll discover things about new friends and spark deeper friendship with people you've known forever. If you are looking for new ways to connect on a personal level, to have some fun, or to get out of conversational ruts with the people you hang out with, I highly recommend these questions.

They come in an attractive acrylic box that is heavy enough to contain and protect the cards. It makes them a little more classy than just pulling out a cardboard box. The questions are thoughtful, and if you hit one that takes the conversation in an unwanted direction, just veto it and move on: there are so many more cards! I highly recommend these." β€”SmileCo

Get it on Amazon for $25; they also make one for families with kids ($25), one for couples ($25), and one for dinner parties ($25).

26. Some cozy fleece headphones that make it easy to enjoy music or white noise while you doze off without the discomfort of headphones OR irritating your S.O./roommate/airplane seat-mates.

Promising review: "The sounds of my boyfriend's dog licking herself would wake me up at night and I couldn't get back to sleep untillllll I found this! I plug this into my phone and put on a free bedtime fan app that I can customize the speed and it totally drowns out the sound! It's helpful as a sleep mask too for when I want to block out light, but I can otherwise wear it more like a headband. I'd been reluctant to get it because of the cord, but it hasn't been a problem. It's long enough to reach the night stand and I just pull it up and out of the way like I do with my hair. I also use it at home when my roommate or neighbors are making noise and I wanna shut out everything and get some rest. Plus, it packs down really small into the carrying case. Super convenient for travel. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. So happy I found this!!" β€”Heather Eberts

Get it on Amazon for $15.97+ (three colors). And if the fleece seems like it'd be too warm for you, they also make it in lycra with a "cool mesh lining". Those are on Amazon for $16.97+ (four colors).

27. A cooling-gel memory-foam pillow for helping anyone who constantly feels hot and sweaty all night, every night.

Promising review: "I haven't slept this well in literally years. I'm falling asleep faster, I'm having a more restful sleep (Not only do I feel more rested but my Fitbit is telling me that I am... SCIENCE!) If anything I'm having more problems waking up since I'm in a deeper sleep and honestly, that's a good thing." β€”Stuart C

Get it on Amazon for $25.

28. Or a small fan that'll keep you cooler without having to crank down the AC's temp even a single degree.

You can also easily move it around the house with you, if you're generally too warm no matter where you are.

Promising review: "Let's be realistic: when you buy a fan, you want it to move the air. This beauty does it IN SPADES! Even on low, it is still pushing quite a bit of air and does so relatively quietly. Frankly, I LOVE IT! I have had too many little fans that just couldn't live up to the task. But this little jewel does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. This is a FAN! And I am a FAN of this fan!" β€”the 13th Doctor

Get it on Amazon: the listings with the best reviews are both sold out; but there's a third one listing it for $19.96.

The reviews in this post have been edited for length and clarity.
