Here's How To Actually Make A Gorgeous Flower Crown

Because you need more flower crowns in your life.

Summer's in full swing, and along with that comes the 4th of July, festivals — and flower crowns.

    Whether it's an outdoor wedding...

    ...a pride parade...

    ...or any old Saturday...

...you can find flower crowns just about everywhere.

Here's how to make your own.

    1. Pick out your flowers.

    2. Measure a length of floral wire around your head.

Leave about ¼ inch of wiggle room, because you're going to pack it with a bunch of greenery in just a second. We used this wire, $2.99.

    3. Pick out a few flexible pieces of your un-flowered greenery, and use short lengths of wire to secure it to the wire base.

Mix it up with a variety of un-flowered greens.

    4. Now you're ready to start adding flowers! Clip each flower so it has somewhere between ½ inch and 2 inches of stem beneath it.

    5. Secure the flower to the greenery base by wrapping a spiral of floral wire around the stem.

If you have more than a ½ inch of stem, you may need to secure the flower with wire both at the base of the bloom and at the end of the stem. Make sure the ends of your wire aren't pointing to the inside of the circle. Otherwise, they'll poke your scalp when you put the crown on.

Here's what a finished spiral looks like.

    6. Now all you do is add flowers until your crown feels finished!

You can stick with a simple color scheme and composition.

    Your wedding colors, for example.

Or get SUPER colorful with it.

Or go with a holiday theme — like red, white, and blue for the 4th of July.
