25 Products Anyone Who Hates Humidity Will Probably Wish They'd Known About Sooner

Besides the old standby: a cranked up AC.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. An anti-friction stick to stop that irritating heat- and humidity-induced thigh (and swimsuit, and bra) chafe right in its tracks.

Promising review: "I bought this in April and now in June, I've come home from a fast-paced 15-minute walk in 84-degree heat and 50% humidity and NOW I can finally write this review. This stuff is amazing. I carry it with me so I can reapply as needed (maybe once or twice over the course of a day) and I can finally wear shorts, dresses, and skirts without layering dang bike shorts underneath. I am beyond pleased. Curvy as hell and these thighs are gliding past each other silky smooth. Blessed." —Cecilia

Get it from Amazon for $5.23.

    2. Or some breathable and moisture-wicking Thigh Society slip shorts that will guarantee your thighs stay comfortable even if you spend the entire day walking around outside.

    Thigh Society

When Daysha from BuzzFeed Motion Pictures tested these shorts, she said the the material was super soft, they're breathable, and they mold to your thighs — and she picked them as the best thigh-chafe solution! They also make an extra cooling version, which are made with a high-tech yarn that can keep you up to one degree cooler!

Promising review: "No super-elastic control to cut me in half, just superb everyday comfort with a leg length that stops chafing. I can't understand why more companies aren't doing this! I haven't worn dresses in summer for years and now, thanks to these I-hardly-notice-I'm-wearing-them slip shorts, my summer wardrobe now includes dresses again." —Sally

Get them from Thigh Society for $34+ (available in three colors; sizes S–3XL/4XL; regular-, high-, and ultra-high-rise available).

    3. A powerful 11-inch fan perfect for circulating the air in any room — helping the AC out — and just blowing directly on yourself so all that humidity-induced sweat can actually serve its purpose and cool you down.

It has three different speeds, and enough power for small- to medium-sized rooms.

Promising reviews: "I got one for work a few years ago. I love it so much that I got this one for the heat and humidity at home (that our window units just can't defeat). I use all three settings, starting on the highest and moving down to the lowest, as I cool down. It works quickly!" —Joe Mama

"Wow! Talk about turbo. This little fan can move the air at least 20 feet away on the high speed! And even on high it's very quiet. Obviously there is some noise, but not enough to have to turn the TV up. I turn the fan on low to sleep and can't hear it, but it still moves a good amount of air around." —Cabragg

Get it on Amazon for $16.99.

    4. A tabletop dehumidifier to extract at least some of the excess water from your air, especially if you don't have AC or just want a little extra help in a nook, attic, or basement.

If it smells a little musty in there, this can help! It sits on top of its tank and uses its magic to fill up a little basin over time.

Promising review: "Love this! For some reason or another my bedroom has always had moisture in the air...even so to the point where my bed sheets felt damp and there was musty smell. I bought this on Saturday and immediately used it. There is no assembly other than plugging in the cord. Five days later, my little tank was full of water and my room hasn’t felt damp since. 10/10 recommend." —Brittany Brown

Get it on Amazon for $34.93+ (available in two colors).

    5. Some foot antiperspirant lotion specifically formulated to prevent excess sweating, whatever it is that triggers yours.

Promising reviews: "This is the only thing that has ever worked for my foot perspiration. It is wonderful, my feet are DRY when I take my boots off when I come in from work. If you think you've tried everything and don't think this will will!" —USMC/MCSO

"This product is as advertised: it stops your feet from sweating. It doesn't take much product, a very small amount, rub into clean, dry feet vigorously, wait 10 minutes, then put on socks and shoes. I used it at night as well as in the morning, and it worked great. I can even skip a day. Love this stuff." —Alison Widmer

Get it on Amazon: two tubes of the foot lotion for $24.99 or a tube of foot lotion and a tube of hand lotion (also an antiperspirant) for $29.90.

    6. A pair of flats or sneakers that will *never* get too smelly because anytime they do, you can just toss them in the washing machine., Rothy's

I've had a pair from this brand (all their shoes are made out of the same woven material, which is made from recycled plastic water bottles) for almost three years now and they really do still look brand new. I wear them all over New York through the spring, summer, and fall with no issues, and as someone who grew up on the Gulf coast, know they'd hold up well during summer's peak humidity there, too. (You can read my full Rothy's flats review for more).

Get them from Rothy's: the pictured flats for $145 and the sneakers for $125 (eight shoe styles and many colors and patterns available; sizes 5–12).

    7. Some DEET- and fragrance-free bug repellent formulated with Picaridin so you can swear off annoying biting bugs once and for all, no matter how attractive you were to them before.

Picaridin doesn't have an unpleasant scent or feel oily as you rub it in, won't damage plastic the way DEET can, and repels ticks, biting flies, gnats, and chiggers as well as mosquitos.

Promising review: "I live in Central New Jersey, home of sweltering heat, dangerous humidity, and many species of mosquitoes, some just annoying, others as aggressive as yellow jackets. I experimented by using the Picaridin on one arm and leg only. The results were impressive. The treated limbs repelled insects. The untreated limbs were attacked by dozens of mosquitoes. I ran into the house. There were itchy red blotches all over my arm and leg. I applied the Picaridin and finished gardening in peace." —Alice W.

Get a 4-ounce bottle of the lotion on Amazon for $7.99 (also available in bulk bottles and in two different types of spray bottles).

    8. And a bug bite suction tool that can gently extract the pesky venom that makes the bite itch, so it stops irritating you right away and basically disappears completely shortly after.

    @bugbitething /,

It works with mosquitoes, bees, wasps, biting flies, no-see-ums, chiggers, and sea lice! Note that some reviewers say the suction can be really strong, so try to use it gently; and the company doesn't recommend using it on your neck or face, because it can cause bruising there.

Promising review: "I am a magnet for bites of all kinds and carry topical and medicines with me at all times — so I figured this would be a good product to see if it really works. I woke up with a bug bite on my arm so I used this little tool (three times per the instructions) — immediately after using, it stopped itching! And less than 24 hours later the bump/bite gone! There is a very faint red mark from using the thing, but a small price to pay IMO. Bottom line: it’s awesome. I’m carrying it with me everywhere!" —Rebecca

Get them on Amazon: a pack of two for $18.95 or a pack of three for $24.95.

    9. A personal blender set — it combines everything right in the to-go bottle, so you can make your own low-effort but ice-cold smoothies and (boozy, or not!) slushies, which is the perfect way to cool down inside and out.

It's designed to crush ice with no problem, and the travel tumbler's dishwasher-safe.

Promising review: "Sturdy build and design. I use it daily for a morning protein smoothie with frozen fruit and crushed ice. It handles the load with no problem. I like the automatic design that turns the unit on when the bottle is inserted, no switches. The base blade attachment and the travel cap both work well without leaks. I bought a second bottle for convenience. My flip lids do not leak when closed and have a definite 'click' when fully sealed. The whole system is simple, no extra bells and whistles, does what is designed to do, takes little counter space and is inexpensive. Perfect." —BrianJ

Get it on Amazon for $27.96, and a second bottle for $16.59+ (available in four colors).

    10. An easy-to-use iced coffee maker that transforms regular old ground coffee into delicious cold brew concentrate overnight, letting you avoid hot beverages on hot days.

Promising review: "I wish I had found this iced coffee maker years ago. I live in FL and the summers are extremely hot, so I like to drink iced coffee in the morning during the summer. It makes my mornings quick because all I have to do is pour it into a cup. I can usually get about five fills out of one pitcher. I absolutely love this device, you do not need anything more expensive or complicated than this." —Ashley Bouchard

Promising review: "I live in AZ and I bought these in several colors. They seemed to work great but I wanted to put them to the test. So on the day the temperature was going to be 119 degrees, I took cold water and filled the bottle. I did not add any ice when I filled it. I put it in the car at about 9 a.m. and left it there all day, parked in a non-air conditioned garage with all the windows closed. At 5 p.m., we left to run an errand in the car. I took a sip from the bottle, and even though the bottle was extremely hot to the touch, the water inside of the bottle was as cold as it went into the bottle. I highly recommend it, and in AZ it’s a godsend to be able to use this in the car." —Pat Martin

Get it on Amazon for $12.99+ (four sizes available in up to 24 colors / patterns).

    13. A lightweight, humidity-resistant hairspray with a flexible, medium hold so all that effort you put into your blow-dry doesn't disappear the moment you step outside.

Promising review: "This is the best hairspray I have ever ever used. Keeps my hair so soft and manageable. Despite the humidity here in Florida, since I've started using it, I have not frizzed once. I have fine hair (but lots of it). Most hairsprays make my hair look stiff or provide no hold at all. It holds nice but you can brush through it without losing the shape of the hold. I have had so many compliments on my hair since I started using this. Worth every single penny. My hair is so soft too. I'm hooked! Love it, love it, love it!" —missisue

Get it on Amazon for $18.99.

    14. Or a hairspray with an extra-strong hold because you know your hair needs all the help it can get when your local meteorologist says, "I'm sorry to say it but this moisture's here to stay..."

Promising review: "This is hands-down the best hairspray I have ever used. Though it is supposed to be 'unscented,' it does have a scent to it. But it is not that overbearing standard hairspray smell. It is a very light clean-smelling scent. What I love about this hairspray is that it is 'brushable.' After you style your hair and spray it, you can essentially brush it out to where your hair feels so soft and doesn't feel like you've got hairspray in it. AND it still holds your style. I live in the Panhandle of Florida where it is almost 100% humidity everyday, and this hairspray works wonders in even the most damp of climates. No crunchy feeling even if you choose not to brush your hair out. This product is a must." —kel07

Get it on Amazon for $11.99.

    15. And if you have curly hair, a light- or ultra-defining gel to let your natural texture shine no matter what the dewpoint has in store.

To use, apply it to your hair wet, then once it's completely dry, scrunch out the crunchy curl "cast." I've been using the Ultra Defining Gel for just over a year now and it helps my hair keep it shape and resist frizz SO much, even on humid NYC summer days. (I also once accidentally bought a bottle of the light defining gel and it worked really well too — I just felt like my second-day curls weren't quite as well-defined as with the Ultra!)

Promising review (for the light defining): "I highly recommend watching the DevaCurl instructional videos before using this product. It helped me so much. The first time I used this product I was amazed that my wavy/fine curls could even look as good as they did. They were soft, frizz-free, BOUNCY (this NEVER happens with other products), and SHINY (again, never has happened with other products). I can't wait to try the shampoo and conditioner to see if this dream can get any better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!" —sarita17

Get a bottle of the Light Defining Gel from Sephora for $24.

Promising review (for the ultra defining): "Despite my frizz-prone middle-aged hair and the fact that I live in a humid summer area, this product gives me soft, well-defined curls that last up to two days — which is nothing short of miraculous!" —SuperSandy

Get a bottle of the Ultra Defining Gel from Sephora for $24 (also available in a travel size for $10, if you wanted to just try it out).

If you're spending the entire day out in the sun sweating (or swimming!), remember to reapply it every 80 minutes!

Promising reviews: "Love this sunscreen, especially for my face when I'm playing tennis or am otherwise active outdoors. I sweat, and this stuff lasts without being hard to remove, or gumming up your pores." —bongor

"Literally the only sunscreen I've used and never gotten a sunburn with. Feels more like a high quality moisturizer than a sunscreen and the scent is very mild. Works well even when sweating." —Amazon Customer

Get a bottle on Amazon for $22 or a bulk bottle for $58.

    17. A waterproof, long-lasting eyeliner that will stay put no matter how many gallons you sweat.

Promising review: "This is the best eyeliner I have tried yet. I went to a water park and spent the whole day there. I got back to the hotel and my eyeliner and it was still intact! It didn't fade even a little bit. I haven't used any other eyeliner since then. It also has the perfect size brush. I love it." —M. V.

Get it from Amazon for $22 (available in eight colors).

BTW, this was one of our picks for the best liquid eyeliners on BuzzFeed Reviews!

Promising review: "This is a great mascara. It goes on smoothly, no clumps, and stays all day. I don't have to worry about smudges or smears beneath the eyes. This is truly a waterproof mascara. I can go swimming, or take a bath, and it still looks fabulous! With my casual summer job, I have even worked with 'yesterday's mascara,' just washing the rest of my face." —Amanda M. Moore

    19. Some long-lasting makeup setting spray because the rest of your makeup needs a little help staying put on particularly damp days, too.

Promising review: "This lasts and leaves makeup perfectly in place for hours. I live in humid Louisiana and work in the film industry. This product withstands heat, humidity, light rain, and sweating. Even on your lips and brows. Makeup washes away easily too. I absolutely LOVE it and from now on it's a permanent addition to my daily makeup routine." —Lynette

Get it on Amazon for $6.89.

    20. A pack of 100 oil-blotting tissues perfect for a mid-day touch up. Idk if it's actually true, but I swear my oily skin's always somehow even oilier when it's humid out.,

Promising review: "Where have these been my whole life? I live in humid FL and have very oily skin. Halfway through the day I look like an oil slick. I love these charcoal tissues, they feel great on skin and gently absorb oil. They do not ruin or pickup my makeup at all when I dab them on my face. They leave no trace of oil and I am good for another four hours or so. I can't live without these now!" —Ashley Bouchard

Get the pack of 100 tissues on Amazon for $6.95.

    21. An electric power washer so you can clean up all that mold and mildew that incessantly grows on like, all the exterior surfaces of your home.

It comes with five different tips so you always have the perfect one for the task you want to tackle, and has two different detergent tanks so you can switch back and forth (but it works really well with just water, too!)

Promising review: "We have tried it out on a little bit of everything around the house: a concrete patio, white painted wood around the patio, some brick and mortar, half of the concrete driveway, half of our vinyl siding, and a little piece of unpainted wood fence. We’ve been amazed at the results! We live in Florida and recently purchased a 15-year-old house that I don’t think has ever been pressure washed. I would say this is a must have for anyone who lives in an area where there’s a lot of moisture and mold/mildew." —Alicia

Get it on Amazon for $139.

    22. And a mold and mildew remover made from a no-odor gel that sticks and stays to your grout and caulking, because opening the window to prevent the shower from steaming up doesn't really work when the outdoor air's just as damp.,

Promising review: "Wow! I would give this 10 stars if I could. We've had issues for a few years with the caulking behind the handle of our kitchen faucet turning black from mildew. We've scrubbed with what seems like a million different products, with no luck. We were actually just talking about ripping out the caulking and doing a total replacement. But, my husband saw this online the other day and decided to order it. Almost immediately when he applied it, you could see it was starting to work. We left it on overnight and the black is COMPLETELY GONE! It's incredible. 1000% worth the (small) investment." —Nicole D.

Get it from Amazon for $12.99.

    23. A dress made from cotton so you can both look cute *and* sweat at least a little bit less.

Yes, it is an extra layer (and technically also 5% spandex), but it'll keep those sweat stains off your short- or 3/4-sleeve business casual tops!

Promising review: "Although the patched area under the armpits is quite heavy, this shirt is amazing. It really does protect from a whole day of sweating and nothing ever comes through. I have the beige color. It fits great under most everything. I don't wear this shirt alone but only under something else, as the armpit patches look too obvious, and the shirt in general is pretty see-through." —Vez
