Ben Affleck Hilariously Defended His "Very Unhappy-Looking Resting Face," And His Argument Is Pretty Solid

    "That's how God made me."

Ben Affleck cleared the air around his infamous "very unhappy-looking resting face" that I officially dubbed "Resting Ben Face."

Recently, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the director and star of Air (2023) spoke about the "common misconception" that he's not enjoying himself at events like press junkets, award shows, and even holiday parties.

For reference, remember when "Sad Affleck" went viral because of his unforgettable forlorn stare into oblivion while promoting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

There was also this time when he clearly wanted to show off the emotional range of the Justice League cast.

Or this time when he and Justice League costar Ray Fisher made their best impression of the "Thalia and Melpomene" comedy and tragedy masks.

And there's this moment on the Today show where he stared deep into the viewers' souls and predicted their futures.

And finally, the "Sad Affleck" moniker returned following his appearance at the 2023 Grammys with his wife, Jennifer Lopez.

Now, Ben officially debunked the myth that he's always unhappy at events. During his interview, Jimmy accused Ben of being so unhappy at events that he was sad even at his own holiday party in 2022. "It did seem like you weren't quite as psyched about the party as everybody else," Jimmy said.

Ben was quick to challenge the accusations. "See, that's a common misconception about me," he said.

"I have a very unhappy-looking resting face," Ben said before demonstrating his "content" and "amused" faces.

    This was Ben's "content" face.

And this was Ben's "amused" face.

"That's how God made me," Ben pleaded, laughing to himself. "You don't have to punish me for it."

Later in the interview, Ben said that he's definitely aware of the viral internet fame of "Sad Affleck." "I've been the subject of the occasional meme."

Ultimately, the haters should back off and let his resting Ben face live in forlorn peace.
