21. Scrubs

Scrubs is first (technically last) on the list because, although I have never seen it myself, I have it on good authority from trusted sources that it is a hilarious, well done dramedy.

I guess this is a good time for the "I don't watch medical shows" disclaimer, so if you were hoping to find The Good Doctor, Grey's Anatomy, or House on this list, you will be sorely disappointed. But, I have also been told that these are great shows as well; if that's what you're into, go get it!

20. The 100

Dystopian drama and action/adventure | 7 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 66%

The 100 is a show that knows how to hook you from the very beginning, but those tensions become a little strained after a while. I began watching The 100 when there were only four seasons and I watched two and a half seasons in five days, only to lose interest via repetition. There's something to be said about a show that can make you watch 38 40-minute-long episodes in five days, though. Watch the trailer; if you're interested, you may just do the thing that I couldn't: finish it.

19. Riverdale

Drama | 6 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 52%

Season 1 was was the best season, there's no doubt. The next five do a good job of trying to maintain the air or Riverdale, but there's just something...convoluted about it. It'll never be quite as gripping as that first season, but it's definitely worth the watch if you're just looking for something to throw on and binge-watch.

18. Workaholics

Okay, stay with me on this one.

I've never seen Workaholics. That is, until a couple of days ago. I have always wanted to, but I either seem to forget about it or find something else first. Big mistake – huge. Workaholics is The-Office-meets-College-Humor. Adam DeVine, Anders Holm, and Blake Anderson are comedy gold; if you've ever seen Game Over, Man or Champions, you know what to expect.

17. Schitt's Creek

Sitcom | 6 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 91%

I began binge-watching Schitt's Creek, and somewhere around the end of the first season, my pace slowed to a steady watch. Schitt's Creek is definitely funny, and the characters make the subpar scenery all the more charming (that's kind of the point, isn't it?). I came for Dan Levy, I stayed for Catherine O'Hara.

16. Dynasty

Drama | 5 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 78%

Now we're talkin'.

Dynasty's reboot was, in my opinion, a masterpiece. When there were only two seasons, I binge-watched both of them in two days. When the next season came out, I watched it all again. When the fifth season came out last December, I watched it all again again.

If you liked or even thought of yourself similar to Jade from Victorious, Elizabeth Gillies plays basically the same role with a little less hijinks, a touch more empathy, and the same amount of brazen sass. The series is chock full of well-paced story, developing characters, glitz, glam, and dramaaaaaa.

15. The Middle

Comedy/sitcom | 9 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 88%

The Middle is an old favorite of mine. I used to watch four or five episodes a day, back when mid-day cable television was good.

With 9 seasons, there's a lot of family drama and resolution to go around – you know, that good ol' George Lopez, Malcolm in the Middle, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air kind of story writing. Super easy to cuddle into a couch and turn on as background noise while you scroll, or to keep on while chorin'.

14. Parks and Recreation

Sitcom, comedy, political satire/mockumentary | 7 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 89%

Most have probably watched Parks and Rec through and through. But, if you haven't, allow me to be the first to recommend it to you (you won't regret it).

Parks and Rec gifts each character a distinguishable personality; I feel like this cracks the code of a good comedy. Distinguishable character traits make shows like these all the more enjoyable. You start to form a bond with the characters, you begin to know them. It makes it all the more difficult to put it down, even when it's over.

13. Outer Banks

Netflix

Adventure and action, thriller | 2 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 79%

I will admit, I was basically peer-pressured into watching Outer Banks. I thought it was a cliché, teen-drama Netflix project when the first season came out, so I did the dumb thing and judged a book by its trailer. A year later, I watched every episode in two days.

The main plot, though it seems to struggle against subplots for the main stage, finds it footing spectacularly as you move through the series. It is unfortunate that there are only two seasons, but it is 100% worth the watch – and Season 3 has been confirmed! You know I'll be rewatching every episode in preparation.

12. Friends

I'm sure everyone's watched Friends by now. This shouldn't be surprising.

If anyone's reading this that hasn't watched Friends, even a little bit, give it a chance. I know the shirts are annoying by now, all the "How you doin'?" decals, and references are getting old. But we're off the trend now! Give it a chance. As someone who has been off-and-on watching since I was 13, it only becomes more relevant. Buy the ticket, take the ride, press the play button.

11. A.P. Bio

Comedy | 4 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 87%

Ever think about what it would be like to relive your high school biology class...but from the perspective of a teacher that doesn't really care? Me too.

If anything, A.P. Bio is all about how this interesting group of kids aids Jack Griffin in all of his schemes and strategies. It's more than entertaining; it's almost...inspiring.

Also, Patton Oswalt is the principal. Need I say more?

10. Never Have I Ever

Coming-of-age comedy/drama | 2 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 87%

Again, forgive me for choosing a series with a small amount of seasons, but this one is just too good.

Who doesn't love to bask in the glory of adolescent drama, especially when the main character brings all the karma to the table via their own actions? We've done some dumb things as teenagers, but probably not as dumb and as numerous as Devi. Okay, that might be a bit dramatic, but the resolve that comes from her struggles – be it familial, relationship, or friendship – are always too sweet not to appreciate.

9. On My Block

Coming-of-age comedy/drama | 4 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 78%

If you haven't seen On My Block, I'd like to inquire what you're doing instead.

This is one of the few shows I found at Season 1 and proceeded to mark my calendar for the release date each time the next season was announced. On My Block quite literally has it all — young love drama, treasure hunt spurred plot, a quinceanera, garden gnomes, and gang drama. Yeah.

This show is finished, tied up with a nice little bow; i.e., it's not many seasons, but there is closure, and it's fantastic.

8. Cobra Kai

Netflix

Martial arts comedy/drama | 4 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 92%

Cobra Kai's first season was an action-packed dramedy, glued together by The Karate Kid's leading male characters' kids and their dojos' karate warfare mixed with a good ol' love triangle no one asked for, but everyone loves.

The storyline doesn't slack even as the seasons progress, which is an impressive feat in the case of movie-franchises-turned-rebooted-TV-show. You'll love Ralph Macchio and William Zabka's dynamic of learning about (yet fighting with) each other. And, if you don't, then you'll love Xolo Maridueña and Tanner Buchana doing...basically the same thing.

7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Sitcom | 8 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 87%

Who hasn't seen Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Pretty much everyone loves Andy Samburg. And a Jake Peralta that's soft for Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) is always a win – the chase is just as good.

There's not much I can say about Brooklyn Nine-Nine that you wouldn't completely understand from a trailer, compilation, or even a blooper reel. Comedy at its finest right here, with a lot of seasons to make it last.

6. Sex Education

Sex comedy, drama, coming-of-age | 3 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 92%

Asa Butterfield is the perfect person for this part, which continues to amaze me considering he was also perfect in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Ender's Game, and The Space Between Us. These examples are nothing like Sex Ed, that's why I'm saying it.

Emma Mackey and Asa Butterfield are absolutely astounding in this premise: a sex advice ploy for their fellow students (built on the basis of a business model) that goes amazingly awry. The will-or-won't-they tension is frustratingly well written, and you will love every second of it.

5. The Office

NBC

Mockumentary, satire, sitcom | 9 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 89%

This is probably the most unnecessary number on this list; that's the main reason it's number 5 of the Top 5. With the overwhelming amount of merch and offhanded Office quotes that surround us daily, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone has already seen or tried it. If you haven't, this is for you:

The Office romance(s) and pranks are up to your neck with peak comedy that can only be delivered by Steve Carell in that classic, slightly off-putting, Michael Scott-fashion. And don't forget about the talking heads and side glances that make you feel integrated into not just the story, but Dunder Mifflin itself.

Don't not watch it just because it's popular; it's popular for a reason, and you will relate, too.

4. Letterkenny

Sitcom | 10 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 84%

The king of Canadian comedy (said like a true American, but still). The lingo and chirping alone is enough to enthrall anyone who isn't used to it, let alone the hockey, beer, and chorin'.

Compared to other sitcom shows, it may seem a bit slow or lacking at first. Trust me, that vibe wears off quick. There is an essential execution to each episode that is precise to Letterkenny, and if you learn it you will love it. It's actually very easy to get sucked in, so be careful.

3. Community

Sitcom, comedy | 6 Seasons | Rotten Tomatoes: 88%

Any TV trope you can think of, they've done it. Any thematic musical number you can think of? They've done it. Racy jokes? Meta references? Passive-aggressive retaliation? Pillow forts? Paintball wars? Puppet animation? They've done it alllll.

I'm not sure how many times I've watched Community at this point. And I'm not really sure how else to sell it, to be honest. I'll put it this way: Dan Harmon made it. You know, the guy who made HarmonQuest, wrote Monster House, AND created Rick and Morty? That guy made this.

2. New Girl

I just keep rewatching New Girl over and over again. It's just habit at this point.

Even though New Girl seemed to reach its full height in the mid 2010s, it remains relevant and an integral part of my stream cycle. Those quirky, semi-strange antics, and episode plots that seem so wild when you're younger turn almost instructional in your adult-ish years.

If you haven't seen it yet, you won't regret it. Also, there's a Wayans brother and an exotic-shorthaired tabby. Enjoy.

1. And How I Met Your Mother

With the How I Met Your Father recreation in full swing, this feels necessary. Also considering I've watched the whole series– that's right, all 9 seasons– about 10 times.

If you haven't watched this before watching How I Met Your Father, it really doesn't matter. But I will say, you're missing out.

There's way too much Marshmallow and Lilypad, too much bro code and Barney Stinson in general. There's so many soft feels and so much unnecessary storytelling that builds the best series I think I've ever watched. It's my most highest recommendation I could give you; it's legend– wait for it...
