Russian astronauts have broken the record of being in open space

Delayed because of the complicated installation on the outer surface of the ISS, Alexander Misurkin and Anton Shkaplerov unwittingly broke the record for working in open space for six minutes, a correspondent from the Moscow-based Flight Control Center reports. The previous superiority to the time spent on the outer surface of the station among Russian cosmonauts belonged to Oleg Kotov and Sergei Ryazansky: in December 2013 they worked outside the ISS for 8 hours and 7 minutes.
