Hawking, NASA will help with the development of spacecraft

US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) joined the project Breakthrough Starshot, announced Russian entrepreneur Yuri Milner and astrophysicist Stephen Hawking in April this year as part of Breakthrough Initiatives program. This project involves sending tiny spacecraft to Alpha Centauri - the nearest star system to the Sun, distant at 4.37 light years from Earth. StarShot concept envisages the launch base of the ship, which will take about a thousand tiny spacecraft operating on the principle of solar sail, the high orbit and then run them one by one.
