The Gauja National Park (Latvian Gaujas nacionālais parks, Gauja National Park) is the largest national park in Latvia. It is characterized by great biological diversity, various forms of relief, springs, outcrops of sandstone, picturesque landscapes, unique monuments of nature and culture. The park covers an area of 917.90 km² in the valley of the Gauja River, a few kilometers from the town of Valmiera in the northeast to the village of Muriani (Murjan Bridge) in the south-west. It was founded on September 14, 1973 and is the oldest national park in Latvia. The administration of the park is located in the city of Sigulda.
