The Trailer For Taika Waititi's "Next Goal Wins" Movie Dropped, And I'm SO Excited For This One

"Most of my films are about people who live on the margins, or are a little bit left out, and it just fit right in for me."

Taika Waititi is one my absolute favorite directors.

He's done big movies like Jojo Rabbit, which earned him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and international recognition.

And he's done iconic New Zealand films like Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. My boyfriend and I still quote lines from both all the time!

Well, the trailer for his next movie dropped, and it looks amazing! Next Goal Wins is based on a 2014 documentary about Thomas Rongen, a Dutch-American soccer coach, who went to American Samoa to train their team (one of the worst in the world).

Judging by the trailer, this film has plenty of Taika's signature humor that makes his movies so special.

And the cast is incredible! Michael Fassbender stars as Thomas, the soccer coach.

We've got Oscar Kightley, who you might remember as Albert in Sione's Wedding, as the head of American Samoan soccer. His character looks just as funny in this movie!

Newcomer Kaimana portrays Jaiyah, a trans star player of the team.

Elisabeth Moss portrays Thomas's ex-wife, and Will Arnett plays a soccer executive.

Taika seems to play a priest, which will be hilarious.

And the representation in this trailer! Look at all these beautiful Pacific Islanders!!!

We even get a glimpse of some traditional Samoan clothing on the soccer field here!

As a Samoan woman, this trailer made my heart so full! I'm so grateful that more Pacific Islander stories are being told, and I can't wait to see this movie!
