7 Ways Your Fall Festivities Would Be RUINED Without Truck Drivers

Without trucks, America stops moving. Have you ever stopped to think about just how important truck drivers are?

What if I told you that without truck drivers, there’d be no beer? Cue full panic mode!

After seeing an awesome photo posted by Holland truck driver Herschel Evans, I started to realize just how important truck drivers are - especially this Fall. His photo features a gigantic ten foot long chainsaw splashed with bright red fake blood.

It turns out he actually delivered the prop to a haunted house in Georgia, and when he opened his trailer to reveal the horrific freight, he just had to snap a shot.

We don't ever take the time to think about how things would be different without the trucking industry, so I'm putting it into perspective for you in a way that's completely understandable… NO MORE BEER. Along with other important things that make Fall so special. So many of the things that are essential to Fall festivities would no longer be available in stores if truck drivers didn't exist.

Here are 7 ways that your fall festivities would be different this October if there were no more truck drivers…

    1. No more drinking beer at Oktoberfest. Or anywhere.

Everyone knows Fall is a great time to drink beer. It's certainly the beverage of choice at many Fall festivals, most notably Oktoberfest. But all that beer has to be transported somehow before it sets up camp in your belly.

    2. No more scary props that make haunted houses awesome.

Think about the coolest haunted house you've ever been to. What made it so cool? Of course you have to have people dressed up, you have to have the fake cobwebs and blood, you have to have the automated growls and screams in the background.

However, what makes a haunted house truly epic are the big props. You know, the fake exam table, the tombstones, the statues, and the giant bloody chainsaws.

Like the chainsaw Herschel delivered, all of these props need to get to the haunted houses one way or another, and many of them are just too big to be transported any other way than in a trailer.

So when you visit your first haunted house of the season and a giant animated monster makes you scream like a girl, thank truck drivers for that.

    3. No more Halloween costumes.

What would Halloween even be about if not the costumes? How will you express your love for Pokemon if you can't dress as one? How will you humiliate your dog without dressing it up as another animal?

Halloween stores, like most other retail stores, typically rely on just-in-time deliveries due to limited inventory space and trying to keep up with what's in demand. So without regular shipments, the most popular costumes would be quickly wiped out of the stores.

    4. No more Halloween candy for trick-or-treaters.

I can see it now… Mom is at the store with her kids looking for Halloween candy and the aisles are bare. The kids start freaking out. Halloween is ruined!

Much like retail stores, grocery and drug stores rely on the same just-in-time delivery schedule to replenish products on the shelves. After the first wave of shoppers scour the shelves for candy, stores wouldn't be able to re-stock and latecomers would be stuck without any sweet treats for trick-or-treaters.

    5. No more PSLs (Pumpkin Spice Lattes). Or Starbucks®. Or Coffee, period.

If you don't drink a PSL during Fall, did Fall really even happen?

An integral part in many people's Fall festivities is sipping on a warm and delicious PSL in the chilly fall weather. But did you know your favorite drink requires very specific ingredients to make?

Without trucks making their regular deliveries, your local coffee shop would likely run out of pumpkin spice syrup and you'd have to settle for a regular old black coffee.

    6. No pumpkins to carve or mums to display on your front porch.

Jack-o-lanterns are a staple in American Halloween festivities, but the pumpkins have to be transported to stores somehow! Of course, you could always make a trip out to a pumpkin patch and pick them right out the field, but many of us rely on the enticing pumpkin displays outside our local grocery store to buy last minute.

It seems like everywhere you go in October you see big boxes overflowing with pumpkins and a towering selection of Mums in beautiful bright colors, but that wouldn't be the case without truck drivers. You'd have to settle with the leftover wilting and brown plants.

    7. No Fall jackets, sweaters, or boots to keep you toasty.

Everyone knows Fall is prime sweater weather, which means it's time to hit the stores and find the best ones to wear on your first walk through the leaves. There's nothing like going to Oktoberfest to drink some beer and enjoy Fall in all its glory in a new pair of boots and a cozy sweater.

Like we've already said, retail stores rely on frequent deliveries to replenish popular items that sell out quickly. When everyone is hitting the stores to find the perfect fall boots and jackets, those items would quickly dwindle, leaving only a small selection - if any - for you to choose from. And let's face it - no one wants the last pick!

So this month when you're enjoying all the luxuries of Fall, remember who got all that stuff there. Truck drivers deliver your Autumn adventure!
