Rhett And Link Emptied Their Bank Accounts To Make Their First Big Purchase

There's a first time for everything, right?

This is Rhett and Link. You probably know them from their daily series, Good Mythical Morning, or as one of the most popular comedy duos on the Internet.

Rhett James McLaughlin and Charles Lincoln "Link" Neal III met in the first grade, when they both received detention for writing profanity on their desks. They've been friends ever since.

Since the two have so much history together, we thought it would be fun to learn about some of their first-time experiences.

Here's what we found out:

First AIM or AOL account name?

Rhett: I remember I had one that was all consonants: RHTTMCGHLN.

Link: You could've said that faster. My first AOL username was Leaky Faucet, with like three numbers after it.

Rhett: Linky Faucet?

Link: Leaky Faucet.

Rhett: Well, that was a missed opportunity.

Link: Now I know the answer to the questions, "If you could go back in time and change anything, what would it be?" It would be my AOL username to make it more 'pun-y'.

First big purchase as a YouTuber.

Rhett: Ohhhh, Lambo!

Link: So, we uploaded a video to YouTube in 2006, when YouTube started. Then I probably went out and bought some, I don't know, saltines.

Rhett: You're forgetting we bought a Scion together.

Link: Yeah, we went in on a Scion.

Rhett: We went to the bank and got all the cash we had.

Link: Literally, we got bills.

Rhett: Because someone told us we had to buy it in cash. We didn't know that that meant you could just pay in full. We literally brought an envelope filled with $18K, which I think is technically illegal to carry around.

Link: I was going to follow it up at the bank saying, "Can I have it all in ones and can I get a briefcase." And it still probably wouldn't have been enough to justify a briefcase, more like a lunch sack.

Rhett: Yeah, that would've been annoying dude.

First thing you do when you wake up?

Rhett: Roll over. Pick up my phone. And build my self image from the YouTube comments.

Link: First thing I do is roll over and then see if Rhett's texted me, because his self image is being shattered by YouTube comments.

Rhett. Yep, everyday.

First time being recognized in public?

Link: I'm still kinda...still kinda hoping for that. Still kinda looking around. I frequently go up to people and I'm like, "Soooo...me, my face. Ring any bells? YouTube much?"

Rhett: I remember a time I was out with my family and we ran into...my grandmother. She was like, "I didn't expect to see you guys here."

Link: But she knew it was you?

Rhett: She recognized us right off the bat. The whole family. All of us.

First Pet?

Link: My first pet was a dog named Tucker. He was brown and shaggy.

Rhett: I remember the day he died. We even performed a funeral for him.

Link: We buried him in a refrigerator box, because he was huge. It rained a lot the next day and the whole grave filled with mud, and we jumped into it.

Rhett: My first pet was Pokey, a hamster, that got lost for a month. And we found him inside of a sleeping back inside of my closet. He had been living off of the fibers.

Link: He'd been eating the sleeping bag?

Rhett: Yeah. He lived for another year.
