Keke Palmer Admitted She Did Not Like "High School Musical" At All, And Some Of The Cast Responded

    "Yuck!"

During a recent Disney Channel–themed episode of her podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer, Keke shed light on the one Disney Channel Original Movie she didn't like, despite its popularity.

On Tuesday, Keke took a trip down memory lane with fellow Disney Channel veterans Aly and AJ Michalka (Aly & AJ) to reminisce about their time on the network.

But before they began reflecting on their careers, Keke discussed the one Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) that everyone seemed to love but she could never get into. And her answer: High School Musical.

"For me, it was High School Musical," Keke said. "Yuck! And no offense, because I have so many friends from that cast."

Keke admitted that she's very picky when it comes to musicals. Although she likes musicals, she said she prefers to be surprised that it's a musical. So, watching someone randomly breaking out into song during a conversation isn't her thing.

"I didn't like how stuff was always like that [in HSM]. I'm very weird with musicals. It's so strange. It has to hit me at the right time and the right vibe."

"I didn't love that, but I liked some of the songs," Keke added. "Some of the songs in the first HSM were good. But the way that it blew up like that? I didn't love it like that."

If we're talking favorites, Keke said The Cheetah Girls holds that title. But as for HSM, Keke said it was "nothing but Grease" — which is funny because both Keke and Vanessa Hudgens starred in Grease: Live back in 2016.

"The music was good in some of them," Keke continued. "I'm telling you, that first one when they had Drew Seeley singing the songs."

"'Cuz that was the gag! For years, people thought it was Zac Efron singing on that first HSM. They done edited in him a voice. A blue-eyed brother with some soul, honey! Drew Seeley was eating those songs up!"

Keke couldn't help but break out into song after thinking of Drew's vocals. She started belting out the song "Breaking Free" and immediately had a change of heart.

"Maybe I do like HSM [laughs]."

After sharing a clip to her Instagram from this interview, fans immediately flooded Keke's comments, including some of the HSM stars. Vanessa popped in with no hard feelings:

As well as Monique Coleman, who also didn't mind Keke's honesty:
