Abigail Breslin Remembered Her "Genuinely Kind," "Little Miss Sunshine" Costar Alan Arkin In A Heartfelt Instagram Tribute

    Abigail Breslin-Kunyansky is shining a spotlight on her Little Miss Sunshine costar Alan Arkin, who died on Thursday.

    The Oscar-winning actor, known for starring in popular movies and TV projects like Argo, The Kominsky Method, Catch-22, The Russians Are Coming, and The Pentagon Papers, died at the age of 89 at his home.

    Earlier today, Abigail took to Instagram to express her sympathy and share just how much Alan meant to her.

    "Alan Arkin was one of the kindest, wittiest, and most lovely human beings I have had the privilege of working with," Abigail wrote.

    "I remember when we were doing the 'am I pretty?' scene in Little Miss Sunshine, and on the first take, he yelled out to 'cut,' and to get my mother immediately because I was crying. I said, 'No, Alan, I'm acting,' and he cracked up!"

    Abigail admitted she loved that story because it showed the essence of Alan's true character.

    "He cared deeply about his work, but above all and most importantly, he was a genuinely kind and thoughtful man. Dearest, Alan...you will be profoundly missed."

    "Although we were not related in real life," Abigail added. "You will always be 'Grandpa' in my heart. Rest peacefully."

    Alan is survived by his three sons (Adam, Matthew, and Anthony), his two grandchildren (Molly and Emmet), and his wife of nearly three decades, Suzanne Newlander Arkin.
