People In Florida Apparently Have No Idea What "Social Distancing" Means

Don't be *these* people.

Every single human being should be practicing "social distancing" by now.

RT @CDCgov: Social distancing can help slow the spread of #COVID19 in affected communities. This means avoiding crowded places and maintain…

For those of you who aren't, PLEASE DO. It basically means you should avoid contact with people. No trains, no handshakes, no social gatherings. You're supposed to remain at least 6 feet away from others.

Yesterday, the White House issued a statement to avoid social gatherings with more than 10 people.

Help make the next 15 days count and avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people.

Cities around the country have clamped down on going out to bars, restaurants, or gyms.

#BREAKING: NY, CT and NJ are taking joint regional action to reduce the spread of #COVID19: Effective 8PM TONIGHT: -Crowd capacity reduced to 50 -Restaurants/bars will be takeout/delivery ONLY -Gyms closed -Movie theaters closed -Casinos closed

But one place in Florida was still packed on Monday.

Clearwater Beach.

A clip from WFLA News that is going viral shows a very packed Clearwater Beach:

Clearwater Beach, Florida is PACKED today despite "social distancing" recommendations. https://t.co/WzGydcP1Ja

Warnings from the CDC didn't stop these people from pursuing their spring break plans:

It's as if these people have no idea we're in the midst of a pandemic:

Here's another clip showing just how crowded the beaches were:

Yikes:

Clearwater Beach has actually been packed for days:

Today, Spring break is on and Clearwater Beach in Florida is packed. These young folk are not concerned about coronavirus. Again, it will get worse before it gets better. You’d better believe it. #COVID-19

This clip was taken Saturday:

Everything might be canceled due to #CoronavirusPandemic concerns, but oh man, the beach is packed. @10NewsWTSP

Since the clip went viral, the city of Clearwater has decided to close Spring Break Camps.

In an abundance of caution amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the city of #Clearwater is canceling Spring Break Camps at all recreation facilities starting March 18. If you have any questions, please contact your recreation center. Thank you.

But that's not all! I took about five minutes to look at random beach cams in Florida on livebeaches.com, and here are some screenshots I took:

This is what New Smyrna Beach looked like Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.:

Destin, Florida:

And Panama City Beach:

BASICALLY, people are still going to the beach. Stop going to the beach.
