The "Mermen" From "The Little Mermaid" Are Going Viral Because Disney Really Nailed This One

"Ariel should have stayed under the sea." —Everyone.

A couple of weeks ago, people lost their shit when they found out Flounder wasn't a cute lil' yellow fish in The Little Mermaid live-action remake.

    This is the new Flounder:

Flounder is a realistic silver-and-striped fish rather than yellow and striped as he was in the animated film

    Hi.

This week, I'm happy to say that it appears the live-action reboot got something *really* right.

I did a little digging, and it appears that Jacob Maynard is, in fact, a "merfolk."

Jacob Maynard, who is one of the people in the photo, is listed as Merfolk

There are also a ton of stories on his IG from Sardinia, where the movie was filmed.

Anyway, I'm not mad about it!

And everyone seems to be pretty happy about it, too.
