1. Ashley Wagner (Figure Skating)
Who?: The favorite heading into the U.S. Nationals event in Boston earlier this month was chosen for the team despite a fourth-place finish at nationals. You'll be hearing a lot about her in the coming weeks.

2. Nick Goepper (Skiing)
Who?: The 19-year-old from Indiana is the No. 1 ranked slopestyle skier in the world. He also enjoys "surfing, skating, and hanging."

3. Keri Herman (Skiing)
Who?: The Minnesota native is the No. 3 ranked slopestyle skier in the world. She was a hockey player growing up.

4. Steve Holcomb (Bobsled)
Who?: The pilot of the 2010 Olympic gold medal-winning four-man sled — the USA's first since 1948 in the event. He'll pilot a two- and four-man sled in Sochi.

5. Lindsey Jacobellis (Snowboarding)
Who?: Jacobellis is the most decorated athlete in the history of women's snowboard cross. She won silver at the Torino Winter Olympics in 2006.

Who?: The 29-year-old who "craves speed" is entering her third straight Olympics.

7. Justin Reiter (Snowboarding)
Who?: As of now, Reider will be the only U.S. representative in Alpine snowboarding in Sochi. He occasionally lives out of his Toyota Tundra in Park City.

8. Hannah Kearney (Skiing)
Who?: Gold-medal winner in moguls at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and the favorite to take home gold in Sochi. She's currently a member of the class of 2015 at Dartmouth College.

Who?: The four-time World Cup giant slalom season champion is the favorite to win gold in Sochi and the face of the U.S. Alpine skiing team.

Who?: Teter is entering her third Olympics. She was the gold-medal winner in the women's halfpipe in Torino and the silver medalist in Vancouver.
