When you're about to become a parent people give you a lot of advice, and it can be pretty overwhelming.
Of course, once you have kids you discover there are a lot of things no one told you that you really wish they had. Stuff like:
1. Trust your instincts!
2. You don't need nearly as much baby gear as it seems.
3. You will never go to the bathroom by yourself again.

4. Do not, I repeat, do NOT let your kids start watching Caillou.

5. "Don't buy a new couch anytime soon."

So tell us: What do you wish you were told before you had kids?
