We Turned Our Childhood Drawings Into GIFs And It's Hilariously Adorable

These should go on the fridge.

Inspired by the other illustrations we made, we gave one of our animators our childhood artwork to see how he could bring them to life using Surface Pro 4.

"My parents kept a lot of my drawings, but this is the only one I know that's framed. I kinda like the style; it almost looks like a key. I feel like my parents put this in a sunny spot, and it just faded. It faced the sun for years. I didn't use archival paper."

Priya, age 7

“I drew this back when dinosaurs were my favourite animal. It was a simpler time, when having something stuck to the fridge made me feel like the most successful person ever. Also being able to spell 'stegosaurus'. I was pretty proud about that."

—Priya, age 25

Jana, age 4

"I think my teacher wrote the caption that I guess I dictated to her. I didn't like drawing. I probably tried to get this done as fast as I could because one of the bodies doesn't have any legs, arms, or like a face. My mom doesn't look like that."

—Jana, age 30

Lily, age 4

Lily Antflick / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"This is part of a larger drawing of my family, and they're all as unique and interesting and pointy as this one. I like how blue my eyeballs are. I guess I was going with bangs at the time, which I portray nicely. I'm surprised I was even able to write my name."

—Lily, age 29

Dan B., age 4

"I think I've drawn my dad more than anyone else. He's a unique looking guy. He's had a mustache my entire life. I'm still proud of the drawing. I don't know why I decided to give him something in his teeth. He has clean teeth to this day."

—Dan B., age 23

Brynn, age 8

Brynn Opsahl / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"I remember something like this in school. We would trace our hands and then make personalities. One is my polka dot funky fun; I used to be really into hearts and moons, then Halloween. I would draw something similar today, I'm not gonna lie."

—Brynn, age 24

Dan T., age 8

Dan Toy / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"So we have this bird creature, and he's like the focus of the piece. I just wanted to use as many colours as possible. And the sunglasses on the sun — that's something I still do today. Whenever I draw a sun anywhere, it always has sunglasses."

—Dan T., age 25

Casey, age 9

Casey Cline / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"In the story, Fred makes some friends with these rabbits. And the rabbits tell him about some foxes who are being mean. And then, just the next day, he runs into the foxes, and they kill him. I also wrote a story called 'Taryn: Angel in Their Eyes.'"

—Casey, age 30

James, age 12

James DeVogelear / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"It was health class. And every project had to be an illustration about some sort of health issue. One was 'Just say no to AIDS,' which I thought was bizarre. This guy's like, 'I don't play dat game, my fellow dog' — that was on the streets back then."

—James, age 35

Clark, age 5

Clark McCaskill / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"I call it abstract expressionism. Obviously, there is young little me in the centre and then my mom, dad, sister, and a tombstone flower(?) watching my back. I drew the rainbow because they make me happy. What kid doesn't love rainbows?"

—Clark, age 26

Jalyssa, age 9

Jalyssa Eliasen / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"Quackman and Pluto were a superduck and alien who battled villains, like a living weather pattern, and guys whose pecs took up half their torsos. Even now, I'll get messages from old schoolmates about my comics. I STILL love superheroes!"

—Jalyssa, age 26

Mandy, age 7

Mandy Caruso / Tyler Naugle / BuzzFeed

"I'm certain this was inspired by my babysitter who was a total goth chick. I was just thinking about the older girls I thought were really cool and my current interests which were ponies, flowers, and rainbows. I was very into 'peace' as a young child."

—Mandy, age 26
