My band and I have dance parties after most shows and the music ranges anywhere from Charlie Daniels to Rihanna. My band gets REAL into it.”

2. Dan + Shay — Nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year

“One of our favorite bus memories is when we got to jam with Keith Urban, on OUR bus! He used my Gibson acoustic guitar, sat in the front corner seat, and ever since, we haven’t allowed anyone to touch that guitar, or sit in that seat.”

3. Chris Young — Nominationed as artist and producer for Album of the Year, and artist and producer for Single Record of the Year

David McClister

"Me and my band, and Dierks and his band were flying to Las Vegas for the ACM Awards a few years ago and we managed to drink every drop of Jack Daniels on the plane. Seems to me that might have been the inspiration behind one of Dierks' big hits..."

4. Maddie & Tae — Nominationed for Vocal Duo of the Year and New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year

“Three days into our first radio tour ever, we had a pretty interesting (and frightening) bus wreck. Our driver accidentally took us under a low clearance bridge and it ripped off the top of our bus! We could see the sky!"

5. Cam — Nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Video of the Year, and as artist and producer for Single Record of the Year

"Cam and Eric Paslay pranked Brad Paisley on his winter Crushin' It tour. Instead of Cam walking on stage to sing along with Brad on his big hit, "Whiskey Lullaby," as she would every night, Eric stepped out dressed as Cam and Cam sang the vocals offstage. It's kind of an 'on the road' story, not so much a 'tour bus/travel' story."

6. Mickey Guyton — Nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year

"Mickey’s bus broke down outside of Pittsburgh on her way to FarmBorough in NYC last summer. She and her band ended up getting cabs to the airport, flights to NYC, without any backline. They arrived right before going on stage."

7. Chris Janson — Nominationed for New Male Vocalist of the Year, and as artist and producer for Single Record of the Year

“My favorite travel tour bus moment was being in Midland, TX in the pouring rain. We just got done playing and were sitting in the front lounge, soaking wet. We got a call a little after midnight, that I had the #1 song in the country, with ‘Buy Me a Boat.’ It was awesome.”

8. RaeLynn – Nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year

"One of my favorite things to do on the road with my band is at the end of a show, we always have a huge dance party. Just imagine eight people with little space to dance, driving down the road to our next city with the music.”

9. A Thousand Horses — Nominated for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year

"Last year we got a little bored on the long drive back to Nashville after we played Austin City Limits. We had the bus driver stop at WalMart, and we picked up a case of Lone Star and a rubber ball. Turns out, the front lounge to the back lounge of a tour bus makes the perfect bowling alley! We call it Beer Can Bowling, and the competition can get pretty intense on the ATH bus!"

The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards airs Sunday, April 3 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
