19 Relics From The '00s I Found In My Parents' Basement

Apologies for the shitty basement lighting.

1. This order form from a 2002 Scholastic book fair requesting the seventh A Series of Unfortunate Events book.

2. This 2001 Guinness Book of World Records, which no doubt was purchased at a Scholastic book fair.

3. This entire stack of CDs featuring NOWs 11, 12, and 16, plus the work of Lindsay Lohan, JoJo, and Ashlee Simpson.

4. Even better: This CD of My Favorite Songs opening with Stacie Orico's "Stuck".

5. These perfectly preserved sequin headbands that used to be all the rage.

6. Nothing paired better with one of those headbands than a charm bracelet, which was definitely made at Claire's.

7. You know a Sims expansion pack was going to turn up at some point.

8. But how about Mary-Kate and Ashley: Magical Mystery Mall for Playstation? According to one reviewer on Amazon, it offers a scathing criticism of capitalism and consumerism messages.

9. And clearly because I have good taste in video games, Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 for PS2.

10. My much-cherished American Girl Mini Rooms sans furniture except for an inflatable chair.

11. The unofficial book of Britney Spears The Illustrated Story, snagged for a special value of $3.98.

12. This reversible, short-sleeved hoodie purchased from Hot Topic appropriate for any teen's mid-'00s emo phase.

13. The Simple Life 2: Road Trip on DVD because in this house we're patriotic.

14. Also on DVD: Pilates Workout for Dummies.

15. A Flip video camera which sadly no longer works.

16. This special edition Celebration Barbie (still in the packaging!) from the year 2000 which, by the way, is currently going for a whopping $5.40 on Ebay.

17. iCat and iDog (in his winter best) just hanging out on a shelf.

18. And literally everything about this keychain, from the SpongeBob lanyard to the Ugg boot.

19. Seriously, this is a true relic of the past and I'm obsessed with it.
