    When Beijing-born designer Siyu Cao moved to the US, the question she was most often asked by her new neighbors was, "Is the pollution really bad there?"

    This narrow view of her birth country led her to start a comic series called Tiny Eyes, which hopes to dismantle some of the distorted notions of Chinese culture.

    Motivated by the lack of interesting culture content being produced — and mainstream marketing's focus on Chinese academics and heritage — Cao hopes to enliven the "static and dull image of China."
