We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community which 2022 movie was the best one of them all. With so many great releases this year, it seems like it would be impossible to pick, but the results are officially in.

1. Top Gun: Maverick

"Top Gun: Maverick was so special to me! It came out mere months before I started my last semester for my degree in aviation maintenance, a field I went into after growing up on the original Top Gun and falling in love with aviation as a kid. Seeing my own generation and people around my age in the movie gave me just the reminder I needed of why I chose the industry! It's also a pretty badass action movie with some awesome music."

2. Elvis

"I had not gone to a movie theater since 2019 until I decided to see Elvis this year. Baz Luhrmann put together a new cinematic masterpiece with a dedicated cast and crew, but he helped launch Austin Butler (my new celeb crush) into super stardom. I saw the movie 20 times in theaters, and it brought a new generation to love Elvis Presley. RIP Elvis."

"Such a good movie. Bright and fun, satirical and sarcastic at times, funny and encouraging at others with an excellent cast, gorgeously vibrant costume and set designs, superb writing and one of the best soundtracks of the year. It's iconic, it's sharp, it's campy, it's queer, it's an ode to the best of '90s/early 2000s rom-coms, and it replicates and makes fun of internet culture in a way that is both hilarious and accurate. If you haven't watched it, you should."

"The perfect amount of camp with a somewhat tricky mystery, and the cast was sublime. Honestly, I was really worried because the first Knives Out movie was so good that it really felt like it couldn't improve on it, but it did."

7. My Policeman

"My Policeman by a pretty large margin. Not only the best movie of 2022, but my new favorite movie overall. It stirred up emotions I didn't know I had. There was much ado about Harry Styles's acting (I personally think he was fairly good), but Emma Corrin was wonderful, Freya Mavor and Kadiff Kirwan didn't have much screen time but made an impact, and David Dawson (easily one of the best actors out there today, if not THE BEST) stole the show."

"My favorite movie this year was definitely Terrifier 2. It's a delightful, silly, deranged gorefest, but it also has this oddly comforting atmosphere. I saw it in the theater, and the experience was absolutely epic, and then, as soon as it was released on Screambox, I watched it, like, five or six more times. It's really a fun movie as long as you're not too squeamish about gore and violence."
