Response to How Many Movie Musicals Have You Seen?:
Despite the many omissions (noted in the comments), I applaud the inclusion of “The Pirate Movie”
Response to 21 Reasons Ikea Is Heaven On Earth:
Number 12 is wrong, at least in the U.S. Ikea was not “the first company to feature a gay relationship in an advert”. They were beaten to that distinction by three years. And by K-Mart.
Response to The 10 Queerest Disney Movies:
The co-director of Lilo and Stitch, Dean DeBlois, is openly gay. The queer subtext in that film (as well as the “created family” theme) is completely intentional (and yes, he also worked on Mulan). Queer readings of older films are the bread and butter of queer theory coursework, sure, but can we just accept that the more modern films are influenced by LGBTQ creators at all levels and their worldview will (rightly so) shape the look and feel of those films.
