At my high school graduation, we sang In My Life by the Beatles. I could barely hold myself together.
“There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all”
My best friend in high school was always comparing our bodies, saying she hated going clothes shopping with me, that it was unfair I had my body, and overall making me feel horrible for naturally being who I am. I do work out, I do eat relatively healthy, especially compared to her then. But once going off to college and realizing that everything she said was absolutely uncalled for and hurtful, (along with several other reasons I’m not going to get into) I dumped her as a friend. Almost a year later, I finally feel amazing about my body and proud of who I am. If there’s somebody in your life who makes you feel uncomfortable on your own skin, be them a friend, a significant other, or even a family member, please know that it’s perfectly okay to cut them out of your life so you may find happiness with yourself.
It’s not though? If you look at the comments, people are taking these hacks super seriously and think they work, which they won’t. Like I said, even if this was meant to be fun, as a costume designer and a stitcher in a costume shop, this is an insult.
Oh, honey, never use hot glue. It’s plastic. It won’t hold up to wear or the wash. Please don’t take that away from the article. And like the others said, hem tape is for quick fixes, not permanent at all. But yes, a seam ripper is a gift from god.
So you bought a cheap ass machine and expected it to stitch through denim? Hem tape is for fixes, not permanent. Hot glue won’t last through actual ware, especially a wash. Learn to sew like an actual adult, including hand stitching. Oh my god, those straps? A few hand stitches to tack them down was all they needed if you didn’t want to be professional and use your machine. This is a disgrace of a post and an insult to my profession
