Strawberry French Toast Bake

This french toast bake is perfect for a festive weekend brunch. A creamy mixture of custard-soaked biscuits, strawberries, and maple syrup bakes up in one dish and can be served right out of the oven.

Strawberry French Toast Bake

Ingredients

for 6 servings

  • 8 biscuits, or 1 can biscuit dough
  • 1 cup strawberry (150 g), quartered

Strawberry Filling

  • 2 cups strawberry (300 g), finely diced
  • ½ cup sugar (100 g)

Egg Mixture

  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk (120 mL)
  • ½ cup maple syrup (168 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven 350˚F (180˚C).
  2. Slice each biscuit into 8 pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan on medium heat, combine strawberry filling ingredients and cook until it reaches a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and continue to cook until filling reaches a smooth consistency. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Combine egg mixture ingredients in a large bowl until well-incorporated.
  5. Place biscuits in a greased baking dish and spread the egg mixture evenly on top.
  6. Top with strawberry filling and the fresh quartered strawberries.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Slice and serve with whipped cream.
