The largest animal on the planet, the Blue Whale can be spotted in these waters, but that’s not all; Bryde’s Whales, Fin Whales and Sperm Whales have been seen too and if you are lucky you may even catch sight of Killer Whales.

As an added bonus while on a whale watching tour, you also have a great chance of seeing dolphins in these waters; Bottlenose, Spinner, Risso's and Common dolphins are amongst the playful species that you may spot.

In Mirissa, the best time for whale watching is between November and April. While other times of the year you do have a chance to see these marvels of the ocean, the seas can get rough. Tours generally begin around 07:00am at Mirissa Harbour and usually last around 3 to 5 hours.
