7 Things You Can Say At Any Time In Any Meeting To Make It Sound Like You're Paying Attention And Contributing

1. I think we need to take a step back and ask if this is the right question to be asking.

2. Do we have the right people at this meeting to be having this discussion?

3. Has someone thought about how this will affect [insert name of department or person not in meeting]?

4. Are we sure this question hasn't already been answered?

5. That's really valuable input; let me run it up the flagpole, see who salutes and circle back on this topic.

6. What else can you tell me about that issue?

7. And, when all else fails...I'm sorry, but I've got a hard stop at [30 minutes before meeting scheduled to end]. We'll have to take this up offline.
