977-Count Indictment Against Ariel Castro

Back on June 12, 2013, Ariel Castro pleaded not guilty to a 329 count indictment. Now a new indictment has been released and Ariel Castro is now facing almost now 700 additional charges for the kidnapping, rape, and captivity of Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight. He will be arraigned for the additional charges on July 15, and the trial should start August 5, 2013. As of now, he will not be facing the death sentence. Prosecutors have saved that for an option in a later indictment. Here is a break down of the charges facing Ariel Castro. 512 counts of kidnapping, 446 counts of rape, 7 counts of sexual abuse, 6 counts of assault, 3 counts of child endangerment, 2 counts of aggravated murder; for the beating that resulted in a terminated pregnancy and 1 count of possessing criminal tools.
