    1. Attack the stains with a no-rinse spot remover if your usual MO is to just ignore the mess. This'll lift even the most stubborn old stain, and it doesn't require you to rinse or vacuum after you spray.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "If you are ever thinking you might need this, TRUST ME you do! My 2-year-old threw up chocolate milk on our cream carpet. It was a complete disaster. I tried everything and nothing even made a dent in it, until this. It’s also scentless, which was great because I got the stain up right before my little girl’s bedtime. TOP NOTCH!" —Jillian Hastings

Get it on Amazon for $11.47+ (available in different sizes and pack amounts).

    2. Or try a portable Bissell SpotBot if you'd rather not spend hours on your hands and knees scrubbing cat vomit from a cream carpet. Just set this on the stain and let it get to work.

    amazon.com

This portable carpet cleaner will spray, brush, and suction up any stain, no adult supervision needed. It also comes with a hose and tool attachment if you'd prefer a more hands-on cleaning session.

Promising review: "I have two cats (ages 16 and 8), one dog, a 5-year-old kid, and several other dogs on occasion (I pet sit and board dogs). I have needed to rent a carpet cleaner at least twice a year since I can remember. No longer! The SpotBot has revolutionized cleaning in our household. It is ridiculously easy and fast! The best part is that I barely have to touch anything gross anymore. I always pick up the larger chunks first, but I let the SpotBot do the rest and all I have to do is follow it up with a good dump and rinse. A single spot takes less than five minutes to clean depending on the setting used and your competency (again, super easy to set up and use). I've had good experience on the stairs and the upholstery using the wand as well." —Rainbow Chicken

Promising review: "This is so much easier than using the toothbrush when trying to really scrub grout or around the sink, etc. This little thing is pretty powerful; I was really surprised at how fast it rotates! 6. Catch crumbs before they permanently attach themselves to your oven by plopping an oven liner underneath the racks. Raise your hand if you hate cleaning your oven. Great. Now take that same hand and click the "add to cart" button.

    Amazon

Promising review: "I got tired of cleaning the bottom of my oven out after every drip and spill, or running the 'oven clean' option, which uses up so much energy and makes my house HOT during the process. I used to have foil on the bottom of the oven to help with spills, and that improved things greatly — but then you have to replace the foil after a while. I had to cut them to size, which was easy to do with a simple pair of household scissors. Then I placed them in the oven (they look nice!), and I waited for it to get messy. I cooked something super messy and finally needed to clean the liner. It was SO easy; I put it in the sink and used my sink sprayer and everything immediately slid right off the liner. No problem! I have a double oven, so I was glad this pack came with more than one. I have one in each oven and one on standby in case I need it. I know that having a dirty oven isn't the worst thing in the world, but if it matters to you, try these!" —Hpg

    7. Stop cleaning each blind individually! Work smarter not harder with a blind cleaner brush that cleans multiple blinds at once.

    Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: "Where has this tool been all my life? This is a quick, inexpensive way to clean vinyl blinds. The tool is so easy to use that we have added the chore to my 9-year-old son’s list. We also use it on our metal indoor heat/air vent. Love that the tool comes with washable replacement dusters." —mastermom

    8. Change the way you feel about sponges (and maybe cleaning, too?) with a durable Skura sponge. These splurge-worthy sponges are designed so that they don't trap food (genius!), dry hella fast, and resist odors — all the things your current sponge can't do. You can also tell when you need to switch out your sponge since the monogram fades over time.

    Amazon

Childhood friends Alison Matz and Linda Sawyer started Skura Style (Skura is Swedish for "scour" or "scrub"), a small business that reimagines your regular old sponge.

Promising review: "I have been using Skura Style sponges for some time now and they are truly one of the best sponges I have used not only in the kitchen, but in the bathroom as well. The scrubbing pad works wonders on stuff that usually gets stuck and is a pain to clean. The fade logo technology is a nice touch so I know when to change my sponge. I never really knew how gross my sponge was before using this product. I highly recommend this sponge." —Athan Tsakalakis

    9. Satisfy your fur baby's endless desire for some rubs with a grooming glove that catches fur before it ends up covering the couch. It's a must for pet owners, especially if your dog or cat goes running at the sight of a brush.

The grooming glove with silicone nodules, full of hair held in front of a French bulldog
    AnaMaria Glavan / BuzzFeed

My colleague AnaMaria Glavan swears by this thing. In her own words:

"The glove is super comfortable and using it couldn’t be more foolproof: just put it on and run your hands through your pet’s fur. That’s it! The silicone grooves pick up so much fur with ease. Like, my dog looks close to hairless. HOW is he shedding so much!?!? After a few runs, I found that I would have to remove fur from the glove before continuing (you can pick up the fur with your other hand or run the glove under some water — either works) but it’s no biggie. The silicone actually makes it really easy to keep this clean. We got Rockie when he was 5 and he’d been riddled with skin issues and allergies, so I was pretty nervous to use anything that could potentially aggravate his conditions. However! Not only does this *not* bother his skin, but he…loves this. A lot. He starts snoring after exactly two run-throughs on his back. Also, his coat looks SO shiny after each use! TL;DR: this is one of those inexpensive add-ons that any pet owner should have on hand."

Get it from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in three colors).

    10. Toss a foaming garbage disposal cleaner down the drain to deodorize your sink ASAP, because if you have to smell last week's rotting veggie peels for one more minute you just might scream.

    Amazon

Promising review: "This product really works! We were dealing with a foul stench coming from our disposal for some time. We tried boiling water, vinegar, etc. This stuff sniffed out the smell real quick and deodorized it as well." —James Tiberius Kirk

It's quick, smells great, and the finish is perfect. It resists fingerprints (and paw prints) for days. It was also a great idea they had to include the microfiber cleaning cloth, as it does an excellent job as well. I probably wouldn't have thought of that. I plan to give these as gifts. It's time to reclaim your weekends instead of spending the whole day vacuuming, then steaming, then waiting for everything to dry.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I love everything about the Hoover Smartwash Automatic Carpet Cleaner! With adopting our daughter's 16-year-old cat recently, we forgot what problems we used to have with our older cats; not a lot of fun at times. Since we have had the old boy it has been fun, except when he has hairballs, and then the real fun starts! We received our new Hoover shampooer about two weeks ago. So simple to operate, and the carpets dry exceptionally fast. Don't be lazy and do the final rinse with clean water as suggested. The touch button 'full time' dry feature allows you to go back and forth in the dry mode and ALL the excess water comes up like a charm. No leakage, very fast-cleaning, and exceptional suction! I didn't need to pre-spot anything. A great machine!!!" —Peter E. von Elten

They are lightweight on my feet...hardly notice I'm wearing them, and by golly they pick up the dust and dirt that our dog leaves behind! They also wash very nicely. We always wish in Tide and these looked brand new after being washed. I'm very pleased with my purchase!" —Tim S.

There's no bag, so simply pop off the canister when you're done vacuuming and dump the contents in the trash.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "Don't walk...run to your computer and buy one of these! This little vacuum is so powerful. I am really impressed. It's easy to use and fast — way easier than hooking up attachments to my upright or canister vacuum. They are so awkward to work with compared to this little vacuum. It has a very long cord, which I really appreciate. The rubbery nozzle with the little knobs on it is so effective to help loosen the hair so it can be sucked up by the vacuum. It also has another tool that will allow you to pick up larger loose debris. It's very satisfying to see how much junk you're vacuuming up — gives you that sense of accomplishment we all need to feel inclined to vacuum at all." —ozmoore

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Once you get everything set up, it's really easy to use and bathtime is pretty quick for my 50-pound dog. If you have a nervous dog, get him used to it first! My dog has PTSD from being a stray and getting hit by a car so he HATES loud noises. The first time we turned it on, we gave him treats and got him to come closer and closer. Now, he doesn't particularly enjoy bath time, but he's not scared of it. I didn't really think I'd use the upholstery-cleaning option, but then my cat vomited on a dining chair and HOLY CRAP does this thing clean cushions well. I was happy with it for the dog cleaning ability, but now I'm totally in love!" —Pamela A Ringstrom

Promising review: "I have very hard water that leaves hard-water buildup and nasty stains. It’s embarrassing to have guests over because the toilets are so gross! I have tried so many products and cleaning solutions — from natural essential oils to harsh chemicals so strong I was lightheaded for the rest of the day. Well, I tried out this pumice stone after reading about it in a BuzzFeed article, and honestly the hype is real! It does take some elbow grease, but the after picture is from only 20 minutes of scrubbing, light enough that I didn’t break a sweat! The stone does get used up, but I think this one should last me a couple of years at least. So if you have embarrassing toilets, try this!" —Stephanie Ray

Before: a dirty shower floor; after: the clean shower floor
    Amazon

Promising review: "Does a FANTASTIC job if used regularly. I love this product. I hate cleaning tubs. This product has made our tubs look new. I don't use it every shower...maybe every third. Just spray down everything after the shower, and forget about it. You DO need to rinse tub before next shower due to product making it slick. The fumes of other cleaners always messed with my asthma. I have noticed that for some reason with this one, I sneeze twice, because I have to spray shower doors while Im still in the shower...but it never affects my lungs. I would recommend this to EVERYONE!" —Angela GIllaird

Get it from Amazon for $16.89.

Promising review: I am a NEAT FREAK! I love to clean. I literally clean my house daily. It can’t be clean enough. I have a two-story, three-bedroom three-bathroom house with two dogs. This vacuum cleans all of it! This gadget is legit like a little human vacuuming your floors, but super throughly. It goes over all my rugs and hardwood floors, and it goes in the bathrooms and closets and under all the furniture. Once in a while it gets caught in the wires underneath my TV but most of the time it is able to get itself out of it. It’s quiet. My dogs barely even notice it. This is worth every penny! It’s easy to set up, and easy to clean after each use. It does all the hard work for you. Since I’ve had mine, I’ve literally gotten five friends to buy one and they all love it too." —Shannon

Promising review: "Unbeknownst to us, our senior cat had been peeing on two brand-new large shag area rugs. The first one I gave up trying to clean and purchased a new one. I just realized last week she has been peeing on another shag rug and I started crying. It’s the worst smell ever! I can’t keep purchasing new rugs until she dies. After scouring Google, this product kept being mentioned as the best enzyme cleaner, which I never knew was a thing. My order arrived at 6 p.m. today and we went right to work. By 6:30 I was almost in tears, the smell was gone! The other rug I gave up on, I threw in the garage intending to try to power wash it in the spring to maybe salvage as a basement rug. But now I’m bringing it in the house to treat and put back into a bedroom. I can’t believe how well it works! I can’t believe how fast it works! Sound is a small biz started by friends Tommy Kelly and Salim Najjar, who were working together at a power plant when they came up with the idea to start a sparkling beverage company.

Promising review: "I'm always overwhelmed by the amount of sparkling water options and more shocked when I notice that all these brands have the same ingredient profiles: sparkling water and 'natural flavors.' I've found these products taste too fake/chemically (if that's a word) to me, so I was ecstatic when I tried SOUND! They only use single source, organic extracts, which gives a very clean, refreshing experience when consuming and no fake/chemically back-end taste! Extremely enjoyable and the only concern is how fast they'll get consumed in my house!!!!" —Dreamer

We mostly hate washing silverware and cups. This dishwasher is perfect. It is a little small but great on space and I feel it fully sanitized everything. Much better than our sponge and slimy sink washing. *bleh* I am on the third load and so far it's done great. It's just three of us in the house so we really don't need a huge dishwasher. We are also moving soon and it's nice to know I can pack this up and take it with me!" —Kiera Kittie
