    Yikes.

Yesterday, the Trump administration announced plans to make IVF more affordable. At the press conference, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made some now-viral remarks that I can only describe as "bonkers."

RFK Jr. said, "Today the average teenager in this country has 50% of the sperm count, 50% of the testosterone of a 65-year-old man."

He continued, "Our girls are hitting puberty six years early, and that's bad, but also our parents aren't having children."

It's the kind of clip that left many viewers with more questions as it went on, so we'll go one step at a time. Let's start at the beginning with the teenage sperm piece.

Tweet by Ben Fowlkes reads: "Imagine them talking over their plan for today and he’s like, yeah I figure I’ll get up there and talk about my concerns regarding the sperm count of teenage boys

RFK has made similar claims in the past, and there is (shocker) no factual evidence to support them.

Cannot believe I just searched “teenage sperm count” on PubMed to confirm my suspicion that nowhere near enough adolescent semen research has occurred in any era to support this claim. Why is he always so weird about kids

It is also just a very weird thing to say.

The same party that says it's weird to obsess over children's genitals is now saying they are counting the sperm of said children

However, one person did the math and figured out a way for RFK's remarks to make a little bit of sense if you note that he said "the average teenager" and not "the average teenage boy."

Tweet from "Christianity On The Spectrum" saying, "This makes sense because 50% of teenagers are female and do not produce sperm."

Okay, next, let's look at his (also unproven) claim that girls are hitting puberty six years early. In fact, a study published last year found that girls born between 2000 and 2005 got their periods an average of six months earlier than girls born between 1950 and 1969.

Tweet by Rose Benson: "Girls don’t hit puberty at 5 years old and people called parents have children. Yikes."

Finally, we need to talk about "Our parents aren't having children."

Tweet saying: “Our parents aren’t having children” is now my favorite short time travel story

Like, does he know what the word "parent" means?

Tweet by Liz Mair: "Just here to note that parents can't be parents without having children. That's the definition."

Is he talking about my aging parents???

Tweet by @AuntSassyAss joking, "You're correct my 75 year old parents aren't having children."

People are also reacting to remarks RFK Jr. made encouraging Americans to have more kids, describing him as having "zero self awareness."

You are telling the younger generations to have more babies while the government is literally shut down while they fight over canceling healthcare for millions. Zero self awareness. But nice distraction though

Another user wrote, "These are the same bastards who want to gut health care for everyone, so why the fuck are they talking about teenage fertility."

Nobody in this room has the experience or qualifications to be making such insane comments. These are the same bastards who want to gut health care for everyone, so why the fuck are they talking about teenage fertility. Fucking sick

So, yeah, there's a lot to unpack here. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
