On Monday morning, the Cincinnati Zoo started the hashtag #GiraffeBirth and then proceeded to live-tweet a 7-year-old giraffe named Tessa's labor, which took more than five hours.
"Tessa trying to nudge things along."
"The baby is out!!"
"Calf already lifted head. All giraffe are watching!"
"Tessa is trying to help calf stand. Good mama."
"Tessa nudges the calf."
"The calf is so close to standing!!"
"Standing for first time!!"
"Wobbly, but standing!"
"Trying to nurse"

"She's just under 6ft tall and weighs about 120lbs."
FYI the Cincinnati Zoo is looking for name suggestion for the baby giraffe. On Thursday, the zoo will announce the final four for a public vote.
