Bobby Brown's Lawyer And Wife Clarify His Comment That Bobbi Kristina "Is Awake"

Update: Alicia Etheredge-Brown said her husband was "in an emotional state" when he spoke of his daughter's condition during a concert on April 18. His lawyer said Bobbi Kristina's "quality of life will not be known for years to come."

Two days after the concert where Bobby Brown made the below comments about his daughter Bobbi Kristina being "awake," Brown's lawyer and wife have issued statements about Bobbi Kristina's condition, explaining that Brown was "in an emotional state" during his performance on April 18.

“Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement. Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come,” Bobby Brown's lawyer, Christopher Brown, said in a statement obtained by BuzzFeed News.

“My husband made an attempt to correct the negative comments he must endure on a daily basis from both family and the public regarding his daughter’s medical condition. He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on January 31, 2015. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard," Bobby Brown's wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, said. "We will hold on to all the blessings GOD gives us to help her at this time and we look forward to her having a relationship with her unborn sister as our family grows in love and faith. I just wish my husband could deal with this most painful and difficult time with people surrounding him who fully support and pray for Bobbi Kristina’s recovery and only her recovery. Life is the most precious thing that we all have.”

“We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is hearing our prayers," Bobby Brown himself added in a statement.

    The original story appears below:

On Saturday night, Bobby Brown said at a concert he was performing in Dallas that his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown "is awake."

The 46-year-old singer stunned fans when he said "Bobbi is awake. She's watching me."

The crowd screamed after he made this comment, the Associated Press reported.

Bobby Brown's lawyer told BuzzFeed News he had no comment on if he said Bobbi Kristina is awake or her condition.

Bobbi Kristina, 22, was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her home in Georgia on Jan. 31. She survived but was put into a medically induced coma, and her family said she was "fighting for her life."

Bobbi Kristina was released last month from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and has been moved to an undisclosed location, but her condition at the time remained unchanged.

She is the only daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, who was found dead in a bathtub on Feb. 11, 2012.
