Casey Donovan Opened Up About Being Catfished For Six Years And It's Heartbreaking

"I'm not stupid, and I thought somebody actually loved me for me."

Last night saw a return to the jungle for Season 3 of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Australia, and the brand new batch of celebs were very literally catfished.

But viewers were quick to notice one of the celebs, Australian Idol alum Casey Donovan, was no stranger to catfishing.

In tonights' episode of Celeb, Donovan spoke to her campmates about the ordeal of being catfished for six years.

Network Ten

"Catfishing is when you're tricked into a relationship," Donovan explained. "So a girl was pretending to be a guy, and that guy was the guy I was speaking to."

Over a six-year period Donovan was lured into a relationship with a man named Campbell who would only speak to her via phone. Campbell introduced her to his best friend, a woman named Olga, who - it was eventually revealed - was pretending to be Campbell the whole time.

This isn't the first time Donovan has opened up about her relationship, writing about it in detail in her book Big, Beautiful & Sexy.

Campmates Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ash Pollard listened on as she revealed how she fell into the trap. "It started at 16, I had never had a boyfriend, I was always a kid that was a bit different, no one was ever interested in me and this guy was telling me that he loved me."

Away from camp, Donovan broke down in a testimonial to-camera.

"It was hard to find out that it was all a lie."

Meanwhile back at camp, Pollard had some really encouraging words.
