The morning of 21 June marked the start of the longest day of the year in the UK, known as the summer solstice. Around 12,000 people celebrated the event at Stonehenge and Avebury in Wiltshire, from the early hours of the morning through to sunrise. Some took part in pagan ceremonies and performed music, while others just enjoyed the beautiful view. Here are some of the best pictures.
