The Best British Press Photos Of 2014

Take a look at the impressive shortlist for the UK Picture Editor’s Guild Awards 2014.

The photos in our newspapers and news sites taken by eagle-eyed UK press photographers can change the course of an entire story.

From Ed Miliband eating that sandwich to anti-government protesters in Ukraine, the UK Picture Editors' Guild has recognised the nation’s photographic talent with this year’s shortlist of Britain’s best press pictures. Winners will be announced in February 2015.

Eve Grayson, a reindeer herder of the Cairgorm Reindeer Herd, feeds the deer in Aviemore, Scotland. Reindeer were introduced to Scotland in 1952 by Swedish Sami reindeer herder Mikel Utsi. Starting with just a few reindeer, the herd has now grown in numbers over the years and is currently at about 130. The herd roams on 2,500 hectares of hill ground between 450 and 1,309 metres and stays above the tree line all year round, regardless of the weather conditions.
