Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven towards police officers.

The Metropolitan police said officers on a routine patrol identified men in a car behaving suspiciously in Plato Road, Brixton, last night at around 7:30pm.

When officers approached the Citroen C4, the Met said, the driver "drove recklessly" towards the officers on several occasions.

After the car struck several parked cars, the 22-year-old driver got out of the car and tried to make off on foot before being detained by the officers, as were the two other males in the car.

Several knives, £1,000 in cash and small amounts of cannabis were recovered from the car and the arrested men.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, and the other two males in the car were all taken to a police station in south London where they remain in custody.
