The activity is known as ‘Vilavilairevo’ in Fijian which is directly translated to mean jumping into the oven. It is basically where men walk on hot stones without getting burnt.

Legend says that the practice began when the people of Beqa begged a spirit God named Tui Namoliwai to allow them the ability of walking on blistering stones forever.
