There's no denying it... Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney's most iconic animated movies.
Now, you're probably familiar with Gaston – the film's main villain – and his sidekick LeFou.
But there's one thing you may not have realized:
Let's start by taking a look at the chemistry they have on the dance floor!
You might be thinking, "wait a minute, there's no man in town half as manly as Gaston. He couldn't possible be a homosexual."
Consider this: Women all over the village were literally throwing themselves at Gaston. But instead of hooking up with one of The Bimbettes, Gaston set his sights on Belle. One of the only women in town who doesn't want to have sex with him.
Belle makes it very clear that she doesn't want anything to do with Gaston.
So why would he still want to coerce her into marrying him?
Because he didn't want to have sex with her either! He wanted a sexless trophy marriage to appease his followers. Then he could continue fucking LeFou on the DL.
Like it or not, Gaston had a reputation in town for being burly and brawny. Which can cause a lot of pressure and anxiety, especially if it's the 1700s and you're a closeted gay man.
LeFou on the other hand, is so clearly in love with Gaston that it almost hurts. Just look at how he leans into Gaston's big arms for protection.
Then there's the iconic song and dance number that LeFou dedicates to his *wink* *wink* friend Gaston.
Look at that fancy footwork! 💃
The lyrics in Gaston are undeniably homoerotic:
"No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston's!"
I can get past the comment about how "thick" Gaston's neck is, but I can't get past the light bondage.
"You can ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley..."
Did LeFou have to say "Dick"? Really? There wasn't anyone else in the bar with a less phallic name?
"No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Gaston."
Then there's this infamous quote from Gaston:
Lol. Spits.
Er wait. Maybe Gaston prefers to swallow?
I can't even...
"Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Gaston."
