And even if you don't have a taste for the supernatural, this book will definitely appeal to your artistic side.

You're the star of the English department, an up-and-coming voice-of-a-generation whose teachers pull you aside to give you extra books to read, just because they think you'll like them. Allow me to be that teacher, and to offer you _The Poet X_. A novel in verse told from the perspective of 15-year-old Xiomara Batista, it is a powerful story about drawing strength from creativity, and vice versa. Like any teenager, Xiomara has a lot on her plate — namely, a burgeoning romance and her mother's strict religious beliefs — but she never lets any of it get in the way of sharing her voice and point-of-view.

I sense a social butterfly, and if that's even a lil' bit accurate, then you need to add _If It Makes You Happy_ to your personal library. But after she wins a local pageant, she's forced to step outside her comfort zone and embrace the spotlight. If you've ever been surprised by what you could achieve once you pushed the boundaries, this story will delight you.

_If It Makes You Happy_ by Claire Kann

When your fellow students have a problem, they know who will give them the best advice: You! That's why you'll find a kindred spirit in _The Downstairs Girl_ protagonist Jo Kuan. Jo lives a double-life as a quiet lady's maid and a popular newspaper columnist who dispenses advice under the pseudonym "Miss Sweetie." This book will fill that _Bridgerton_-shaped hole in your heart and teach you about the experience of Chinese American people in the late19th century.

_The Downstairs Girl_ by Stacey Lee

Day one and you're already angling for that coveted "Class Clown" superlative, huh? You're well on your way, and what better way to get an edge on the competition than losing yourself in the biting satire of _Kill The Boy Band_? Kirkus describes the plot as "boy bands get the _Heathers_ treatment," and even though you should avoid mimicking the pitch-black mayhem this cast of obsessive fan girls gets up to, it sure is fun to read about.
