We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Oh, and FYI โ€” prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. Nail polish remover that'll clear away chipped nail polish so you can keep a fresh coat on โ€” AND do so without drying your nails out.

A reviewer's hand holding a bottle of the remover. It has the brand name "Mineral Fusion" on it.
    amazon.com

This polish remover's nondrying formula is due to there being no acetone in it so you get all the paint off of your nails without stripping them of moisture. It's also cruelty-free and vegan. Plus, it was made in the US.

Promising review: "This nail polish remover was worth the extra couple of dollars over what you can find in a store like Walmart or Target. One cotton ball with this stuff can remove nail polish from an entire hand, which is great considering that I used to have to use two to three cotton balls when trying to remove polish, regardless of color. The smell is not super but the ease is there so I would recommend it." โ€”Brianne Ross

Get it from Amazon for $8.49 (and don't forget the cotton balls you'll need).

    2. A nail-biting treatment set for people who tend to nibble. You'll never get a professional-looking manicure without having healthy nails to start with. This'll come with no-bite polish plus a bottle of a bitter additive to increase the nastiness of the taste and prevent nail and cuticle damage.

    amazon.com

It's odorless, waterproof, vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free. Yay! Per the reviews, some bitter polishes don't really work very well as a deterrent because they're not quite nasty enough. You'll get all the nasty you can handle with the additive in this set!

Promising review: "This product worked for me! After 50 years of being a nail-biter and wearing acrylic nails, I finally have my own nails!! I love it!" โ€”Snookie3

Get it from Amazon for $14.74.

    3. An 18-piece stainless-steel manicure set so you can ~nail~ down your mani and pedi routine with professional-grade tools from start to finish โ€” but it'll also come with tools for other grooming needs.

The kit unzipped and open. It takes on the shape of an open book and inside, the nail tools are tucked into tiny leather slots
    amazon.com

The set comes with tools for hands, feet, and face. The hand tools include a nail file for smoothing, two nail clippers (one regular and the other with a slanted edge for trimming the corners), a peeling knife for scraping nail polish, a cuticle knife for cleaning up the dirt inside the nails. The feet tools include two scrapers for dead skin removal, a dead skin fork, and two toenail clippers with different sizes. The face products include two pimple-popping tools, eyebrow tweezers, and two ear wax-removing tools.

Promising review: "Wow. I was surprised by the quality of this set. It's luxurious and makes me feel like I'm getting a top-quality salon manicure. The case is beautifully made and the tools are strong and well made. It feels like it should have been much more expensive than it was. I took a chance on this and it paid off. I'm delighted with it." โ€”Rockgurl

Get it from Amazon for $27.99+ (available in four colors).

    4. OR a single cuticle trimmer if you don't need all the extras or already have the other tools. Plus, admit, Watching that single strip of unnecessary cuticle flesh being trimmed off your finger is always the most satisfying part of watching a nail tech manicure your nails. Now, you'll get to do it yourself.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "A good pair of cuticle trimmers is hard to find. These are GREAT! They are sharp, the blades come together perfectly, they donโ€™t โ€˜stick,โ€™ and the double spring makes it super easy to use. I have small hands and was worried these would be too big for me to use comfortably, but they are perfect... The chameleon color is eye-catching and makes my nail table stand out. The color hasnโ€™t been damaged from disinfectant either!" โ€”Rachel R. Robbins
Get it from Amazon for $9.99.

    5. Sally Hansen's Nail Rehab Treatment that I use and can say will definitely help damaged nails bounce back.

the bottle of nail rehab. It's transparent and fluid is a very, very pale pink
    BuzzFeed / Marquaysa Battle

I wore acrylic sets faithfully before the quarantine hit. When I finally fixed my heart to soak off what would be my last full set for a lonnnng time, I had this in my bathroom and began using it regularly along with tea tree oil for my cuticles. Within a month, my nails started to look healthy although they had broken off during my soak-off session. After three months, my nails look even healthier and I'm 100% sure they're stronger now since I broke my pinky nail and it grew back WITHIN A WEEK like it hadn't even happened. YES, I now have supernails, LOL! I also love the very subtle pink shade of this treatment because it gives my nails a natural nude look that I can wear alone but when I wear it underneath other nail polish colors, it doesn't interfere with the other shade.

Promising review: "This stuff works like no one's business. I am a housekeeper who was constantly tearing and breaking my nails. I don't know what's in this stuff, but it works! This stuff is so good I sent a bottle to my sister in Florida." โ€”Rhonda L. Brockman

Get it from Amazon for $5.75.

    6. A glass nail file that'll leave the ends of your nails sealed so the edges are smooth and don't peel โ€” as opposed to the typical emery board file design you're prob used to.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "The first time I got a glass nail file, I didn't know the difference between the painted grit and actual etching. HUGE DIFFERENCE! My first cheapy file lasted a month. These ones (I bought three) have lasted MONTHS and are still like new. That's how you can tell these are made of genuine etched glass. They are omnidirectional and leave your nail tips feeling smooth. I keep one in both bathrooms as well as one in my purse, because if I have a nail file near me then I won't bite my nails!! :)" โ€”NaySAO

Get it from Amazon for $9.99 (available in seven colors).

    7. Precision point cotton swabs so you can dip 'em into polish remover and swipe that excess polish from your cuticles. No one ever has to know that you color outside of the line sometimes. ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜Š

cotton swabs (like Q-tips) that have pointed cotton ends instead of the regular rounded cotton ends
    Amazon

Psst... You could also use these to correct makeup mistakes (i.e. eyeliner and lipstick) because no one has to know about those either. ๐Ÿ’‹

Promising review: "Love, love, love these! They're great for cleaning up nail polish mistakes! Theyโ€™re not like your normal tips; they donโ€™t fall apart." โ€”Jennifer Masuka

Get three packs of 600 from Amazon for $9.99.

    8. Nail growth and strengthening cream that'll soothe cuticles and thicken those nails so they'll always look strong and beautiful ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿฝ.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "Amazing! My nails have tranformed. They have NEVER been this healthy-looking and strong. This is a must-have product. You will probably see results in about a month of daily application." โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $7.94.

    9. Hydrating hand masks to give your hands a true spa treatment before you get to the painting portion of the experience. The best part is that these are touchscreen-friendly so they'll work their magic ~while~ you scroll through your phone.

Model's hand wearing the hand mask gloves. They have a leaf design all over them. The model is scrolling on a cell phone with the gloves.
    Target

Just wash your hands and then slide these babies on for 15-20 minutes and then rub in the leftover solution when you take them off. Heads up: These gloves are scented so if you have sensitive skin, then you'll want to try the Aveeno Repairing Hand Mask which is fragrance-free and designed to be gentle on sensitive skin.

Promising review: "These are super hydrating. I put the masks on my hands and go about my business." โ€”Chrissy

Get the scented mask from Target for $4.99 and the sensitive skin hand mask from Amazon for $2.96.

    10. Customized reusable press-on nails that'll be way easier, cheaper, and healthier for your nails than resorting to longer-term extensions at the salons.

    Adorned Studio Nails / Etsy

The Adorned Studio Nails offers all kinds of nail designs ranging from simple to extra glamorous. You can also order every set in its Etsy shop in a variety of finger sizes and length choices. So, even if you're not into extra long nails, you could still just order them in your preferred shorter length. The site also sells a $3 sample size kit to help you find your exact nail size.

Promising review: "Absolutely GORGEOUS! Super easy to apply, and look and feel amazing! These nails also came in cute and thoughtful packaging. Really grateful and impressed! 10/10" โ€”Megan

Get the set on the left for $27+ (originally $30+) and the set on the right for $21.60+ and more (all sets available in two lengths, two shapes, and four sizes).

    11. OR simpler reusable press-ons to help you maintain a still-polished yet less-is-more natural look.

A reviewer's hand wearing short press-ons with a French tip style (which are nude with a white line along the end of each nail)
    amazon.com

Heads up: These press-ons come with glue stickers as opposed to regular glue BUT numerous reviewers noted that those stickers actually suck. Just snag some traditional nail glue so you get the best experience out of these. The press-ons and the glue together are still cheaper than what you'd pay for a full acrylic French tip set. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ

Promising review: "I am a nail-biter. The only thing that stops me from biting my nails is this. I use a liquid adhesive made for these nails to attach them. I cut them short and then polish them with matte nail polish." โ€”Zed

Get them from Amazon for $17.99 (available in a pack of 240 pieces).

    12. Waterslide nail decals to make it look like you paid the extra few dollars for a professional design when, really, it only took a few seconds to achieve.

    Limited Edition Nails / Etsy

These nail stickers are sold by a seller who identifies as a licensed nail tech. Just dip each waterslide nail sticker into water for a few seconds (counting to 10 or 15 is usually the best bet), then slide the sticker from the paper onto your completely dry nails OR use tweezers to easily peel the wet decal from the paper and place it on your nails. To see how it's done (and how fast) for yourself first, just search up how-to videos on YouTube!

Promising review: "These stickers were so easy to use. I love these! I just ordered them for the second time!" โ€”London

Get the snakeskin nail stickers from Limited Edition Nails on Etsy for $6.50 (available in a 12-sticker set) and the iridescent ones for $5+ (available in a 40-sticker set and eight colors).

    13. A start-to-finish polish set so your nails get the very best care even when you can't get into a salon chair.

Box of four nail products, all shaped like regular nail bottles
    Target

The set includes a nail prep coat, base coat, top coat, matte coat, cuticle oil, and quick-dry drops. Each product is quick-dry, chip-resistant, provides creamy application, and is designed to be long-lasting. Plus, everything's cruelty-free.

Get it from Target for $39 (free shipping).

    14. A beautiful nail lacquer set with four bold shades inspired by Thailand so you never have to be ~Thai-d~ down by boring colors ever again.

Pear Nova, Instagram / Pear Nova / Via instagram.com

Btw, the Pear Nova brand is vegan, 5-, and cruelty-free. Plus, the brand's products are made in the US.

Get it from Pear Nova for $44.

    15. AND! Nail thinner to pour into your nail polish when it gets a little older and thickens up more than it should. This way, your favorite Old Faithful color can bounce back and look like professional-grade polish no matter how long you've had it.

The bottle of thinner with a dropper for the top so you can dispense it into your nail polish like you would drops of oil
    Target

You only need to apply 5-6 drops per half-ounce of nail polish lacquer. This'll be great to keep in the tuck if you are always collecting nail polishes and lacquers and therefore, some of them get left out of the rotation for a while. This way, when you're ready to dust one off, you can make sure they're just as great as they were when you first got 'em. Also, the Ella + Mila brand is cruelty-free and made in the US.

Promising review: "This product is fantastic! It saves all those bottles that are ready to be ditched because they are too thick! Makes them like new again! 1000% recommended this for EVERYONE." โ€”Natasha

Get it from Ella + Mila for $11.50.

    16. A Cuccio cuticle oil to nurture cuticles and nails. You just wait until you see how pretty your fingers are (and get a whiff of how good they'll smell).

    amazon.com

    BTW, it's cruelty-free. Yay!

Promising review: "I love this. I really do. Iโ€™ve been a nail-biter my entire life. Iโ€™ve been embarrassed to show my hands and I would chew and chew until my fingers were bleeding and raw and just moving my hand hurt SO much. This oil healed my hands in just a few days after putting it on morning and night. In three weeks, youโ€™d never think I was a nail-biter!" โ€”D

Get it from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in two formulas).

    17. A wearable nail polish bottle holder so you can eliminate all the extra maneuvering with the bottle, the polish brush, and your hands. This way, you can make every brush stroke with mess-free precision so your nails look as neat as possible.

Reviewers hand with a gray nail polish holder on one finger like a ring. The "top" of the "ring" has a silicone container you'd stick the bottle in so it'll hold in place.
    amazon.com

It's made of silicone so it'll stretch to fit different finger sizes and be easier to clean. It's also designed to hold different nail bottle shapes and sizes.

Promising review: "Love this product. It definitely helps with DIY nail projects. When I had no idea this polish holder existed, I tried to find creative ways to hold my polish so that it was in a convenient spot. However, I never found that really worked for me or was comfortable. This holder holds all of my nail polishes easily and is very comfortable to wear. I love that the finger holes on the bottom are not enclosed so you can just pull the holder off without ruining the paint job. Just one tip: Move the holder to your pointer when doing your thumb. The first time I used it, I was clumsy and spilled nail polish on my couch because I held my hand sideways to paint my thumb. Dumb mistake. Haven't made it since and it's easily avoidable." โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $9.99 (available in 14 colors).

    18. Nail glue so you can elongate the time you're able to keep your press-ons ~or~ repair any cracks on your natural nails.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review (for false nails): "This glue is amazing for full coverage glue-on nails! My nails are very soft and they peel and bend back very easily. I love buying full coverage nails and gluing them on... If you coarsely file your nail bed (not too hard), this glue holds for at least three weeks. I wash dishes, laundry, clean and shower daily..." โ€”Raven Marie Fontaine Horn

Promising review (for nail repair): "I wish I knew about this product years ago. Iโ€™ve always had problems with my thumbnails breaking! Iโ€™ve used this on my thumbs twice now and itโ€™s a miracle! Iโ€™ve had to reapply after a week or so which is probably due to washing hands/showering. But it holds the nail together perfectly so I can wait for it to grow out some instead of having to cut them super short!! Iโ€™ve introduced this to a few friends who are also amazed! I didnโ€™t bother smoothing it out or anything... I just put the glue on, let it dry, and waited for it to grow out." โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $1.99.

    19. A universal nail polish bottle handle to help you handle any nail polish with ease. Yup, even with the weaker hand that tends to be shakier with the bottle top.

Olive & June / Target, Olive & June

Promising review: "I think this is great! I donโ€™t know how exactly it works to make painting nails easier but it just does. Iโ€™m terrible at doing my nails but this made them look like someone else did them for me! I'm definitely happy with this purchase!" โ€”Melissa D.
Get it from Target for $16.
