A "Stolen" Meme Has Kicked Off A Glorious War Between Political Meme Pages

"This memes war."

Earlier this year a Facebook page popped up called "The ALP Spicy Meme Stash", which pumped out pro-Labor memes like this one.

Several months later, not to be outdone, Liberal party people started their own called "Innovative and Agile Memes" and churned out some quality pro-Turnbull ones.

And for a short time, that was that. Labor and Liberal meme factories battled it out in their little communities, out danking each other with amazing/awful memes.

But late on Saturday night it all changed. "The ALP Spicy Meme Stash" declared war on "Innovative and Agile Memes" with this post: "This memes war."

They were up to the task though, throwing down the gauntlet, claiming, "welcome to the #memesboom".

BuzzFeed News can reveal the war started over this meme posted yesterday, taking the piss out of the former Labor prime ministers Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd.

The Labor page accused the Liberals of "stealing" the meme, pointing to this very similar style from last month.

BuzzFeed News spoke to an admin of the "Innovative and Agile Memes" page, who said "If it is a war that they want. It is a war they will get."

"This election is the end of Labor dominated memes. We will not be beaten again," said the admin, who said they set up the page in direct response to the appearence of "The ALP Spicy Meme Stash" earlier this year.

The admin then spouted off a series of memes to outline the page's position.

"The ideas boom is delivering wonderous amounts of jobs and growth in the meme sector. There has never been a more exciting time to wage a meme war."

"The earth has been around for 4.5billion years and we happen to live at the same time as the Innovative and Agile v ALP Meme Stash wars."

The ALP Spicy Meme Stash did not immediately return a request for comment.

As the official meme war begins, it's important to reflect on what a truly glorious and dumb time to be alive.
