"The Bachelorette" Kaitlyn Bristowe Had Sex - And The World Went Nuts

Sex? What is this sex you speak of?

Last night on the always entertaining ABC show, "The Bachelorette," lead Kaitlyn Bristowe went where no Bachelorette had ever gone before. That's right, people. She. Had. Sex. With. Nick.

Following a one-on-one date with front-runner (and runner-up on Andi Dorfman's season) Nick Viall, Kaitlyn invited him back to her hotel room to continue their date and...well...he spent the night.

And, right on cue, the Internet lost its damn mind.

I'm sure these people are normally very rational who simply want to see two people fall in love, following an extended period of polygamy whilst traveling the world. Hell, even typing that sentence makes me jealous of Kaitlyn. #FOMO

What they and countless others are forgetting is this: Kaitlyn is a woman. A human woman. And news flash, sex is part of being a human. She was entirely within her right to sleep with, and seemingly regret the next morning, sleeping with Nick.

That's the most alarming point of this episode. The public completely crucified a grown woman's choice to invite a man she was dating back to her hotel room following a romantic evening. Intimacy is an important part of any relationship, and at the risk of being crass, I'm just going to say it - you have to kick the tires before you drive the car off the lot. Physical connection and intimacy are key components of long-lasting relationships, so why are we so quick to judge one woman's choice?

Yes, there is the argument that this is a highly unnatural situation and she is on TV. "She knows what she signed up for." No kidding. I highly doubt she forgot there is a camera crew following her around 24/7. But this is the format of the show, and Kaitlyn's purpose as "The Bachelorette" is to find love. If this is her path to finding it, then who are we to judge?

So listen up, world. Give the girl a break. Every woman (and man) has most likely been in a situation where they've regretted going too far too fast with someone they're dating. The only difference? Our regretful moments aren't being blasted into millions of homes across the country every Monday night.

And to those people arguing "this is a family show" - your children should be in bed. "The Bachelorette" has never been billed as family-friendly television. Look at your life, look at your choices.
