Top 10 Robin Williams Movies

Arguably the greatest comedians to grace the silver screen, Robin Williams passed away on August 11th. Here is a list of my top 10 favorite performances.

10. Popeye (1980)

His 1st big role on the silver screen, this movie launched him into stardom everyone knew he would gain from his work on Happy days.

The film doesn't pass the test of time but it gets the edge of being a movie I grew up on watching. No, its not better than "One Hour Photo" but it was certainly more of an iconic role for him and many legendary roles he would play.

9. The Fisher King (1991)

Directed by Terry Gilliam, Williams played a crazy homeless man. That combo right there has a spot on the top 10.

Watch this movie again and you will see a lot of foreshadowing for Jeff Bridges character in Big Lebowski.

8. Awakenings (1990)

Perfect example of Williams being able to balance comedy and drama.

Although Patch Adams could have made this list, Awakenings had a little less cheesy scenes and a strong performance by De Niro plus a great direction by Penny Marshall.

7. Good Will Hunting (1997)

Yes, I have a soft spot for this Boston based film and Williams performance certainly sealed the deal for this Oscar winning flick.

Particularly, this scene where Williams tells Matt Damon's character, "It's not your fault".

It has always stuck with me as one of those movies that left you wanting to see more of these characters and their dialogue.

6. Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)

Not sure if it was that we was so good at picking movies that he was so good at playing the Character or that he made the characters so good.

5. Dead Poets Society (1989)

Safe to say this was one of his most Inspiring characters he played in his carrier, his role as John Keating put you on the edge of your seat for what was going to come out of his mouth next and how his words would impact the other characters.

4. Jumanji (1995)

This movie does't hold up to the test of time like we would like but it certainly was as entertaining of a movie as they got when it was released. A sequel was released but it didn't star Williams and the lack of the Jumanji title in the film hurt its notoriety.

3. Aladdin (1992)

Taking this movie to a whole new world with lots of laughs as the lovable Genie in Aladdin. Williams supplied the jokes to make you laugh as a kid and be able to watch it as an adult with a whole new set of jokes and innuendos.

2. Hook (1991)

Might be his best casted role as a kid who never grew up. Robin Williams playing Peter Pan has gone down as a classic. Sad to lose Bob Hoskins in the same year, we will be chanting "run home Jack" for our future baseball games. Check out this scene where Williams transforms from an adult back to Peter Pan. Something still tells me he got the role of "Jack" directly based off his role in this film.

1. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Check out this clip of what this movie would look like as a Horror film.

We must have seen this film 10 times in the theater when it came out, but now I question if it would have been a better as a horror movie. check out the link depicting Mrs. Doubtifre in a different light.
